It adds a trans-am class and completely replaces all of the cars with a
total of over 150.  Also, it improves the points and prize system makeing it
more realistic. If you want to change the physics there is a program call
advance options editor to do that. You can get it at www.gtinsider.com
Personally I'd recommend SCGT to almost anyone into sim racing but, that's
just my opinion.

Sorry about that.

Hi,

I have been thinking of buying SCGT, but have been put off by what I've
heard about it's unrealistic physics model (and the physics model in the
demo left me bored to death). I've heard a lot of mention of Service Pack 3,
but I can't find any reference to it at all on GT Insider.

What exactly does it do? Does it improve the physics model, and if not, are
there any patches which do?

Thanks,
Sky

SP3 is pretty close to a new game using the SCGT as the core.  First, it
adds tons of cars bringing the total to 155!  These appear to be the real
cars in Prof. Sports Car Racing.  Many new manufacturers and paint schemes
added.  Aside from aesthetics, the cars do feel quite different.

This is a tremendous improvement both in variety for racing opponents and
variety to drive. The "old" SCGT only had perhaps a dozen car models with a
few different paint schemes so in some races there were actually multiple
IDENTICAL cars (same car AND paint scheme) which sucked.  This is gone now.
Every race has unique opponents.  The AI seems tweaked as well so the races
are tougher now.

Additionally, SP3 seems to incorporate the physics patch I've used before.
The cars are definitely harder to drive.  GT1 cars can be out right beasts
if you leave the track.  I've spent 5-10 seconds spinning like a fool trying
to get back in the race.  This NEVER happened before.  Mind you this is
still no GPL by any stretch but the physics are pretty damn good.  If they'd
only patch the FF, I need a car with some weight!

Finally, the entire game is focused on Prof. Sports Car Racing with new menu
screens, a Trans Am racing class, and entirely new racing schedule.  I'm
certainly impressed.  I was bored with SCGT a few months ago and thanks to
SP3 I'm back.

I downloaded all the files, but when I try to run Scgtsp30.exe, it comes up
and asks me for the next disk. It does have a browse option, but it isn't
happy going to the folder where all the files are.

Saw something about a manual method of doing this a few days ago. Any easier
fix?

Try the Advanced Options Editor (set to 'Full Simulation' and 'Slippery
Grass'..). This makes the physics model far more interesting! Don't worry
about getting SP3 just yet.. there are lots of upgrades available in smaller
gulps.. Many (many) cars of all types are available at www.gtinsider.com and
www.littleracer.com. Get the SCGT V1.551 update, and try the bautifull  '63
Lotus Cortina, the new Carrera#1 track, and the Visual Dammage patch,  just
to name a few.  SCGT is the most fun race sim/game on earth!

Almost forgot to mention the SCGT Sound Realism Update due out later this
week. It's a full update (11mb) of nearly all the sounds in Sports Car GT.
It also fixes any 'no sound' problems which have been a common occurrance
when some individual cars and car sets are installed.

Have a look at the SRU1 readme file at:

Let me also say that the Lotus is great looking.  I have a question about
the damage patch.  I installed it, enabled it in the options menu, but I
still don't see much.  Are the deformations big?  Do I really need to
whack something hard?  and do the other cars show damage?

Figured out why the exe file wouldn't run. Somehow, all the downloaded
files had an extra extension added to them: e.g. ..c01. After I trimmed
the extra extension (file still ends in .c01, etc.) The exe file ran
fine, and created the giant zip file.
