GP3 Voodoo2 anyone?

GP3 Voodoo2 anyone?

by Andre Warring » Sun, 23 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I have a Viper 550 and 2 x Diamond Monster Voodoo2 SLI cards
installed.
When I select my graphics card from within GP3, the Voodoo2 card is
greyed out and I can't select it.
The readme says that GP3 has been tested with the Voodoo2 card.
Has anyone got GP3 working with a Voodoo2 card?
How glad I am that I tried the warez version first. No way I'm going
to buy this if it doesn't support my Voodoo2 card...

With STB Velocity 100 (V3 8 MB) is the same thing.
Anybody has found solution yet?

It detected and support my Diamond VOodoo2 (non sli) card and work.. at
14fps (450mhz) but at least it works. ON 7 people who installed it i
know, only 2 people got it too work with their vid cards.

Check the readme more carefully Andre, you need to tweak a text file to get
it to work.

This is what I have in the card.txt file and I can have 800x600 with
everything on most of the time (PIII-450).

[Voodoo2 3D Accelerator]
slivoodoo2=1
lorestextures=1
loresclouds=1
bilinear=0
altmirrors=1
altrain=0
reflections=0

Amazingly, having 3D accellerated visuals doesn't help much. I get nearly
the same occupancies in software mode (which, admittently, looks even
worse). Reflections kill the framerate/occupancy, no matter which resolution
or how much stuff you turn off.

Good luck... hope you find something you like in there, but I doubt it.

Right, time to uninstall this, I suppose... Geoff: All these people believed
in you! -How could you let them down like this?

I changed the text file Jan, but even that doesn't work, it still
greyes out my Voodoo card. I also disabled SLI, and even then it
doesn't recognize my Voodoo card.

3 questions Jan:
- Which Voodoo2 card do you have (I have the Diamond Monster V2 8mb
SLI)
- What is in your gconfig.txt file
- Which drivers do you have installed for your V2 cards?

I went crazy as soon as I noticed that GP3 still has the same slowmo
solution as in GP2... this is truly unbelievable and unforgivable.
Oh well, we all know that the warez version is 3 years old and that
all these problems will be gone in the retail version...

Ok, back to GPL.

I have Creative Labs V2 8mb SLI. These boards are identical to yours except
for the color of the plastic on the VGA connectors.

I wouldn't know, I've canned the installation, sorry.

Latest 3Dfx reference drivers.

I agree this might have been a worthwhile add-on in July 1998, as a full
game in July 2000 it's way past it's sell by date. Kinda makes you feels
sorry for being harsh on F1 2k. ;-)

It's the same with all beliefs... the "Crammond is god" brigade will not
falter in the face of hard evidence, watch my words.

My sentiments exactly. ;-)

Hmm... I'm not giving up yet, it HAS to be possible...

Yep, I have those too...

Yep, with all these addons F1 2000 is getting better and better... but
I haven't tested GP3 long enough to conclude which one I prefer more.

I know...
