Need Opinion on a >CH Racing Wheel System ??

by Tazworl » Sat, 20 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hi All,
Once again im being a "Pain" :)
I want to get a Wheel for use with Nascar 1 an Nascar 2 an a few other
sims here. But i don't know which are good an which are Junk. I read a
review for this wheel "CH Racing Wheel with Pedals" and it Scored a 4
outta 5 in the review. The cost is under 100.00 but all the other wheel
systems seem to be alot higher an the reviews seem to be mixed.
Is there anyone here who is using this wheel an pedal setup with N 1 and
N 2 ? If so can you tell me your opinion of it. Thanks in Advance ......

I have owned a lot of wheel and pedal sets and I currently use
the CH Racing Wheel with the CH Pedals which are sold seperately.
This is a very good set for GP2, Nascar 2 etc.

I recently purchased the CH Racing System which is a wheel and pedal
set. The Wheel is exactly the same as the CH Racing Wheel but the
pedals included in this set are awful and I would strongly advise
against buying this set.

Get the CH Racing Wheel on its own and add a set of CH Pedals
(The ones that look like airplane pedals). The Wheel is great and
the CH pedals are probably the finest design that money can buy for
desktop racing sims.

I have also owned the Thrustmaster T2 set, the GP1 wheel and the Nascar
Pro set. None of these matched up to the CH gear. As an exception, the
Nascar Pro Wheel was very good but it had the disadvantage of being
sold with the worst pedals I have ever used.

I hope this answers your questions

Hmmm....interesting. While I dont deny the CH Pedals are well
designed, I find them awful for desktop racing. I find having
to press the pedals downward from my chair is very awkward as
opposed puhsing foward with the CH Racing System pedals. I didnt
like the CH Racing Wheel either due to its center notch and no
resistance (which I sold off). So I took the wiring and pots
out of my CH Pedals and put them in the CH Racing Pedals. I then
put some weights inside the Racing pedals so it no longer slips
around. Finally, I removed those large pedals from the CH Pedals,
resized them and put them over my CH Racing pedals. I am happy
as a lark now for a cost of around $75 ($45 CH pedals + $30
for the Racing pedals). It works great for racing sims and
flight sims. I do agree though that whatever CH makes for
racing is far superior to TM.
