I've got an N2k2 server working fine on one of the machines here at work -
and if I turn off the Windows XP firewall - people outside can connect.

If I turn it on again they cant get in.

Where are the settings to open up the appropriate ports?  Bugered if I can
find them in WinXP

Cheers

Doug

Go into your Network Connections, highlight the Internet connection and
select Properties.  Select your Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), choose
Properties and on the next screen, click the Advanced button in the lower
right.  Go into the Options tab, with TCP/IP filtering highlighted, click
the Properties button.  You need to put a check mark in the box to the left
of "Enable TCP/IP filtering (All adapters), and then make your adjustments.

Here is the procedure for opening the ports
http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q308127   The
ports to open are 32766 for the net_server_port, 32767 for ping port, and
then sequentially numbered ports for each allowed client connection (max of
42) starting at 32768.

Bingo - I managed to trawl that up on the microsoft website - but many many
thanks for the tips - it's now working a treat

Just need to know how to get into my own damn server remotely when it's
racing now :D
