Cross town Modem ? for NASCAR

by Dave Hoffma » Thu, 18 Jul 1996 04:00:00

This little question concerns regular old NASCAR.EXE modem racing with a
buddy cross town.  This may be a
bug, or just the way it is, I don't know.

If one of you crashes and damages your engine, aren't you suppose to be
able to get the car the hell off the track
so the race can finish under green?  <Press ESC> really does nothing for
me, physically or mentally.  Anyone
know what's up with that?

It kind of sucks when you're on lap 108 at Talladega, and some idiot
rookie decides to go 2 a*** in the tri-
oval and plants you kindly into the wall.  Sure it gives the fans a
thrill, but my engine maker is out a few bucks.

What sucks even more is when your friend across town doesn't feel like
going the last 80 laps under caution.
And you don't want to end and feel like the last 2 hours were for
nothing.

Besides using MULTI.EXE and the cool towing feature, is it possible to
remove your car from the track in a
normal modem race?  Besides, why hasn't Sierra/Papyrus added the tow
truck to v1.3, for us unfortunates who
probably won't be able to play NASCAR 2 because we don't have Pentium
2000's.

Dave, I'm perplexed.  Since you know how to use MULTI.EXE to do what you
want, why would you need a second way to do this?   Has RAS not fulfilled
its daily grumbling quota?
