My Channels Menu is greyed out.  I have no idea how to do this.

Also, I don't see Mitch at the race list.

You need to file/menu connect then go to the web channel tab and from there
host.

Ok, figiured it out.

Server is RAS.  Password is rascar.   ras was too short and it would not
accept it.

I just clicked on a link on www.teamspeak.org and automatically got
connected.  I saved the link to my desktop for future use.

Server name: RAS.

Password: rascar.

What is the race server name ?

You have to use this server:

teamspeak://voice.teamspeak.org:10050/

Channel is RAS

Password is rascar

Nope. No built in mic.
When I say "echo", that isn't exactly correct. Best I can describe it
though. I can recreate the effect by playing with the audio effects in the
Creative EAX control panel. Damned if I want to though.

>Ok, someone _please_ tell me what you are using for braking queue's at this
>track :)

Well, lets see..
At the end of the first straight I gently apply the brakes once I pass
the tire barrier at the end of the front stretch, and gently roll back
on to the throttle as I plow into the wall...

Ummmm, after that, I do a quick stab of the brakes while doing 360s
through the esses....

And lets see, ummm, and I pound the brakes coming out of the last turn
before the front stretch when I realize that I am not looking at
pavement but am instead looking at the guard rail.

Seriously, I know they are going for authenticity, but the track
surface blends in with the walls... makes it very hard to judge where
you are in the corner.  Larry's right it is very hard to find visual
queues here.

49.7 seems like a pretty good time to me.  The best I have turned is a
50.2.  My avg lap is around 51.5.  I have not practiced very much, but
I just can't seem to get a handle on this place.  BTW, are we using
the FAST setup?  Also, with the FAST setup I don't ever find the need
to shift into 6th, by the time I am getting close to the rev limiter
it is time to brake.  Anyway, if you all decide to run any more
practice races this week in the evening post it here... I need to
steal someone else's line.

RASCAR: Norisring...

by Mitch_ » Thu, 29 Jan 2004 13:59:56

Just to explain I was racing Ginger when I turned that ONE 49.7 :)  Ive
turned a few 8's and a bunch of 9's but mostly 50's.

I dont know why you guys are having difficulty picking up a braking point
but maybe this can help.

Going into T1 I brake about a car length shy of the Light on the wall right.
If Im really pushing maybe 1/2 car length but you best not lock em up or
youre going around/through the tires :)  When braking I mash it hard and
just before the tires start to squeal I begin slowly/gradually let up
pressure until Im sure they arent going to lock.  I go all the way into 1st.
I stay real tight to the kerb on the left and keep it slow enough to not
push over the kerb on the right.  I try to smoothly apply throttle getting
off.

Getting into T2-3 I use the road surface change asphalt/concrete on the left
and get about half a car length past it before hitting the brakes.  There is
a magic bump right here so I do a quick let up on brake pressure (not to
lock em) then quickly get back on em until im well into the corner and can
set up the next quick left by staying hard right and getting the late apex
coming off onto the next short straight again applying throttle smoothly to
full.  On thing about this track is the gravel outta this corner isnt slick
so I use it to my advantage and go wide on that exit up near the wall.

Getting into T4-5 I stay to the left of the kerb and just as I get to the
top of the little rise I use the (I think 2nd) sign on the right mash it
hard then slightly let up being sure not to lock em.  I get down to 2nd gear
but keep my foot on it pretty good lookiing to keep the car balanced
throughout and setting up a good run off and to the last lefthander.  I keep
it nailed all the way from that point on.

Yea were using the Fast setup cause it came with the track and is decent.
We ran a couple tracks that didnt have a decent setup recently but the fast
setup in Norisring is pretty stable and not nearly bad enough to switch to
another.

Ill set up a long practice tomorrow around 6-7 est.

Have you played with the "recording mixer" settings ?
It got to be something in there - except from the mic all can/must be
muted.

>Never roof ride.  Throw the SIM away before you do that.

I may have to start doing that(roof ride or F10 view).  I apparently can't see
the track well enough from the***pit.  That was DEFINITELY the case at
Sebring.  I was 10 seconds(or something) faster driving F10 than I was in the
seat...

You can change between DirectSound and Wave sound in TS.  Whichever one you
are using, change to the other one and see if that helps.
