The track used in the '85 GP is pretty much the same as the one we have
in GPL, the only real difference being that there was a chicane put in
to slow the first turn down.

Yeah - I think no-damage online races are out at this track for that
reason, you can do the same trick at many of the corners.

I didn't know
| that the modern day F1 Austrian GP was run at the Osterreichring!  I can't
seem
| to recognize a single corner from the old track...  :(  Formula 1 just
isn't
| what it used to be.  And I personally blame Bernie Eccelstone!  LOL

I seem to remember Bernie Eccelstone describing the Bosch Kurve as a little
bit *** (tell me about it I've crashed there enough times already!) and
saying we couldn't really allow corners like this in F1 anymore : ((((

Totally incorrect. The new layout turns sharply to the right BEFORE you are
up the hill of the old track. (far before the first corner of the old
track). Then there is a totally new section that joins the old track on the
3rd straight. The rest of the circuit is the same except for the very last
corner. This was changed into 2 slower corners.

You are describing the new layout (however, the Bosch Kurve was altered too). The track used in _'85_ however is
identical to the one in GPL, expect for the chicane in the first corner. The new track was constructed in 1996.
Now, if someone would release a patch to turn the Cooper into a '86 Benetton BMW with about 1400hp and barndoor
wings....ahhh, the memories:)

No - the person you quoted was correct. The track used in the *EIGHTY-FIVE*
GP is pretty much the same as the one we have in GPL. The modern A1-ring has
only been there since about '97 or '98.
