Well, all I got from this thread was "no in-car view". In light of
this, I don't much care how realistic it drives or looks, I just don't
see myself playing from a chase view. Talk about realism.... ;-)

I think the Test Drive brand is well known in the US. I guess Infogrames
assumes that Americans won't buy it if it only said Le Mans: 24 Hours. It's
just like Theme Park World and Sim ThemePark (US). The sim brand is stronger
in the US, so they choose that one. It's all marketing and makes is
complicated for everyone...

I get it: let's get Sierra to republish GPL under the name 'Quake
Legends'!

Advertising Standars, please! The bean counters could get away with ***y
*** as long as it was ported to PSX.

>: Marco Maas also let me know that the German magazine PCGames features a
>: rolling demo of 24h Le Mans. "The demo looks great and you can choose your
>: graphics card, but you can't control the cars."

>Personally, I thought the rolling demo looked rather suspect, with cars
>darting around in a rather unnatural way.

OK I haven't sen the demo or nuthin' but a magazine I kinda respect
for reviews (PC Format) said a lotta good things that may be worthy of
the attention of this group...no I'm not going into detail but they
did comment on the 'tweakability' of the game and also the 'touches'
and said it could satisfy the *** element as well as the arcade
freak. However, on engineering they did hint that it was reasonablty
involved but should not shut the door on someone who likes to drive
but is fairly clueless when it comes to mechanics (that's me folks).

Personally I am intrigued BUT, all the screnshots were 3rd person. Can
someone please let me know if this also offers a first person
perspective. Also, I will want to do the full 24hr stint but I can't
seriously do that while I am plagued by real life. Anyone know if I
can take the 'hard' or 'nutters' option but be allowed to save
mid-race aka Mr Crammonds F1 series?

Cheers

This made me laugh hard.  Can I please use this phrase when it is
appropriate in my day-to-day travels?

I too think PC Format is a good mag, but something is going on with them and
this game, they very proudly claim in their 'Review Policy' that they will
not review an unfinsished game, and will only review the game we can buy in
the shops, even if that means their review comes out after other mags. So
how come they can review this game, its constantly slipping, now late Jan. I
think they have gotten carried away with their exclusive.

There is a bonnet cam, but no***pit, which is a shame.

I have my doubts about this being anything other than pure arcade racing,
the Playstation version I have is just that.

I didn't realise the game* had ben put back that far...thought PC
Format had the review because of a 'late' delay. Does cast doubts on
the integrity of PC Format, a shame and I now wonder if this is yet
another mag where sponser money determines the quality of review.

*Cannot be a sim if there is no in car 1st person perspective - of
course I may be one of only a few who find it difficult to drive while
standing on the reare bumpers of a car.
