Well, I don't have the bandwidth to host a race. I was planning on
participating in both of Eldred's 100% races (Znady on 12/26, and The
Ring on "Boxing Day", whenever tha that is). If anyone in IGPS wants
to race, that's where I'll be. :)

Your post was exactly 4 years after that inaugral IGPS race in Mexcico
(18/12/98). Was that deliberate or just coincidence?
Those were the days, with GPL so new that there was 20 secs between pole (Nash
of course!) and last place. Such that I went off on T1, served a black flag for
the pleasure of going over the tyres backwards and still clawed back to 2nd -
helped by a timely disconnect for the 17 year old kid in the lead :)
First league race for most of us - it all seems very inncocent now with ultra
competitive leagues.
I must have peaked early though as I have scarcely improved laptimes :( At the
time 1:49s were quite respectable - I dread to think what the WR is now!
A certain Mr. Simmons won that race as I recall after the Brits dominated
qualifying :)
Have you started shaving yet? :)
Maybe see you around if the tearful reunion is set up
Cheers

No doubt helped by many people's better connections and faster
systems.
After not having driven GPL but MAYBE half a dozen times in the last
two years, my times have back-slid a little, but while I was doing it
every day, I never seemed to get any faster either. I guess I merely
found a comfortable level of inability and was happy to cruise there.
:)
It was a case of being in the right place at the right time (as is
the case with most podium finishes in GPL - grin).
Wow, what a mellow & modest chap the league admin from Stalag 17 has become :)
..digs out IGPS review - written by J Simmons:
"John Simmons - arrogant and bull-headed, but as fair as one can expect from a
league admin (and pretty damn good looking too). "
Cheers!

Complete coincidence actually - I bought a new PC over a year ago but
GPL disagreed with it so I pretty much gave it up. However one swift
defrag of my hard drive last week and it suddenly runs perfectly, so
I've been gradually hitting the tracks again - an IGPS reunion seemd
like a good next step :-)
:-))) I dug out my IGPS1 CD the other day. Nice to be able to finally
review it at more than 20fps!
I'm not sure I want to know - it's fair to say I've lost a second or
two in my old age...
If we could find a host I'd be there :-)

The only reason I was in 2nd at the time Graeme disco'd is because
you had a couple of problems (which was the only reason I ever
finished ahead of you or Graeme). If I recall, the races in season
one often ended with Graeme, you, and me finishing in the top three.
That first race at Mexico was rotten luck for Graeme. He qualified
on the pole, and led the entire race, only to be disco'd on the last
lap.
That's still a very true statement. :)
