Question about Grand Prix 2

by ari.. » Tue, 27 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Wassup. I've played GP2 for 1 or 2 hours and it seems really hard.
I'm in Korea and there's no much infomation about car racing, and racing
games. I should write a review about that game, but they(game magazine
dudes) lost its manual! So it's so difficult to write a review.

Can you tell me where to get some infomations about GP2?

And... I found some odd thing in the GP2.
When my car's running on the curves, why does the speed of car decrease
automatically? The gear just goes down. I don't know about racing well...

Help me Plz!

Peace,
Loner

The best place is reading this newsgroup, now concerning your slowdown
in corners, the way i'm seeing this is:
1- IS AUTO-BRAKE ON ??? --> when you look inside your***pit on the
right side, there's 7 different little "icon"(when ON there green).
AUTO-BRAKE is the first TOP one, is it LIT ?? if YES you have AUTO-BRAKE
ON (which means that the game is taking charge of braking, instead of
you) TURN it OFF (press F1 on keyboard)and see what's the difference.

2- IS AUTO-SHIFT ON ??? --> from top, it's the 2nd "icon" is it again
ON,if yes turn it OFF (press F2 on your keyboard), then you will change
your gear by yourself.

Now you will have control of the car (depending of what steering device
you have) ;keyboard,joystick or wheel/pedal(recommended)

I'm not sure about the INTERNATIONAL MANUAL that came with your game
(i'm from Canada) but look at page #20.

Also check for driving AID in the CONTROL PAGE (in the game).

Good luck! Eric

This may because of auto brakes and auto gears being on.  They are the
first two help icons.  If they are green they are on and can be
switched off with F1 and F2.

The speed decrease will also occur naturally if you stop accelerating,
even if you are not braking.  Basically this is because of the drag
generated by your wing (there are drawbacks to all of that downforce
;-) ).  Try setting your wings at maximum, and then run with them at
minimum, you will notice a huge difference in how much the speed
decreases when you stop accelerating.

Hi there.

I  have found the best way to do this, is use a search engine,eg alta
vista, yahoo.
Then do a search for gp2.

You have seven driving aids (F1-auto brakes, F2-auto gears, F3-self
correcting spin, F4-indestructible mode, F5-ideal race line, F6-suggested
gear, F7-throttle help).
The auto brakes will slow you down on bends but pressing F1 disables it.

Hope this is of some use.

Darren Simpson.
