GPL is 100 times better.

MGPRS2 is in no way a new version of the game, but rather an update to
F1RS....plus a better support in online racing and is supported by game
service...
Anyway...if you like F1RS and want to give online racing a shot...buy it, if
you rather see another game...don't.

I pretty much agree with the viewpoints expressed below. I'll add that there
is finally now the full support for RS2 that the original enjoyed, ie a
performance editor has been released (www.mgprs2.com). Maybe some are keeping
F1RS up-to-date. But if not, and if you want the '99 car liveries, etc, you
might have to switch to RS2.

The car models are much more detailed in Monaco RS 2.
I didnt like the first one but I like the second one?
If you really like the first one you probably wont go wrong with the second,
just dont expect it to be lots different. Better in most respects.
Im sorry but the multiplayer racing with Ubisoft titles is pretty weak.
The Ubisoft Game Service for MGPRS2 is very very bad, I mean.. I had fun
for a week or two on it, but you have EXTREME latency problems and car
synchronisations with not more than 2-3 cars on the track. It's a very
unpleasant online experience. You see the cars suddenly loose synchro and
they slow down on the track, just to re-synchro and go from 40 to 200mph in
2seconds. Totally unplayable.
It's YEARS away from any multiplayer racing found in per example Papyrus
titles. Check out those 2websites for REAL online racing :
http://www.nros.com/ using Nascar Racing 2. This is Nascar's 14th division
and it's a sanctioned series similar to Winston Cup or Busch Grand National.
http://gpl.gamestats.com/vroc/ using Grand Prix Legends. This is a great
place to look out for GPL online racing, especially because of the 100x~
better client/server multiplayer architecture found in it (up to 20cars on a
same track).

>You're kidding, right?
NROS : 24 cars with almost no warping
GPL : 20cars with a "normal" warping and latency.
MGPRS2 : 2-3 cars with severe synchro lost, warping everywhere and a limit
of 2car in front of you that you can see.
I mean SERIOUS ones.. the guy is going on the long straight at Spa.. and the
server loose synchro (Im behind him.. and BOOM he stops on the track in
0.1second). It can't think of any prediction code. Nothing. Nadda. Each
time you have a slight packet that doesn't reach the server, it completly
de-synchronise the server. Very buggy also. the whole start routine is
flawled with constant crashes. There's no ranking or statistic system
compared to the NROS, and no official racing series like on the NROS
neither.
Btw David have you ever been on Game Service ? What's your screename ? I
never saw you there.

It's not the people there who do the coding for multiplay that I'm referring
to either.
David G Fisher
So tell me who is the leader in multiplayer racing ? Your talking about
Papyrus here..
-Modem racing back in mid-90's
-Hawaii in 1995
-The NROS in 1997
-The new client/server for GPL and future titles in 1998
How dare do you even think that there's another company close to them.
Ubisoft ? They are behind them of at least 4years (pre-Hawaii quality),
Bethesda can't make 2 cars in a straight not warp, and Microsoft has bad
warping, probably 3-4 cars max with some severe warping. MS is the only one
near, but far far far far away (from any experience on the Zone with C:PR,
MTM, MTM2 and MXM).
Just because the new game engine from Papyrus is very demanding in terms of
I/O from the server, it doesnt mean it's bad. LAN racing is incredible, it
will be even more with GPL 1.1 and on the Internet you need to live with the
limitation of TCP/IP packets, Internet clogging and bad latency.
Still, you never raced on Hawaii, and never raced on the NROS. So tell me..
why do you think they aren't the leader in multiplayer racing ?

You need more experience with other titles.
David G Fisher
Hmm, my mother has the cancer. Thanks wow very nice.
I don't even know why I bother.. You never experienced neither the NROS or
Hawaii, so why continue ? Why don't YOU experience with them no heh ? I did
them all, you haven't did them all, so who has the point here ? me.
Especially since you snipped all I had to say, it means you have no argument
against that, so I have the point.

I have over 1,000 hours racing online with a number of racing sims/games.
Wrong. I know what your opinion will be no matter what I say. There's no way
you or any of the other very familiar names on r.a.s. who have hundreds or
thousands of hours with Papyrus sims are now going to say anything
but.............what you do.
Why debate with someone when you already know the outcome?
David G Fisher
Really ? under what screename ? when ? how was your experience?
I have thousands of hours at all the other titles. I spent alot of time in
F1RS/MGPRS2, the same goes for Grand Prix 2 (probably the most spent sim
time if we take out the NROS). Oh and I had less time, but still raced alot
titles like Viper Racing, TOCA, C:PR, MTM, etc.. Stop thinking we only race
Papyrus sims. Of course they are the company that leads the industry in
racing simulators for the PC, but that doesn't mean we only race them. STOP
over-generalysing.
I was just stating facts.. it's you that said "no it's false". Sorry but
it's not false, since you haven't still told us why do you think that
Papyrus is not the leader in multiplayer racing, the same company who did
huge and giant step in that with Hawaii and the NROS. And since you think
they aren't, who is ?
