--- Peter Burke (didnt.doit.....) is away for a week or so, you'll have to
drop him a mail message about upload proceedures.
--- Just last night, I finished painting up J.Villenuve's PLAYERS Ltd.
car and I'm quite happy with it. If anyone is interested let me know. May
be able to e-mail the .pcx file or something. Anyone want to start
trading these? I figure if everyone did one or two cars each, we'd have
them all done in no time for all to enjoy ;-) Took me the better part of
two evenings to really be happy with the #12 Player's car. Also all I had
to go by was a b&w newspaper clipping and waht I could make out from the VCR
taping of the INDY500. so obviously it's not perfect. :(
--- I also found that working with the "hard-coded" updates to the car/drivers
didn't work that well (and unfortunately that's where I drafted up the
Player's car :( So this may be due to that, but did anyone else note the
frustration in having to physically 'paint' designs etc. on BOTH sides of the
car (and UPSIDE-DOWn none-less on the opposite side!) car, when you just
wanted the same as the side facing you???? Is this a problem with with
working with the coded file or what? I looked frantically for mention of a
"paste/copy" feature in the little pamphlet that came with the package,
but na-da. Be neat if you could "zoom" in (get the close-up box), rotate by
180 deg., the "paste" it down on the other side of the car, IMO. Makes for
a LONG episode having to physically paint on both sides! Also I noted,
what's the purpose of putting down "base colours" when it doesn't cover-up
what's already on the car. (ie. the old Villeneuve car was Red, and "King
Racing" or something like that, and I instructed the package to lay down some
nice hues of blues and white, came back in and all was still Red etc! Isn't
there a method of just starting from scratch?)
--- Anyway, I find that paintkit can be too big of a time-waster, anyhow for
all that it does. I can't see my self sitting down "bit-mapping" an entire
season of vehicles. I just can't get the hang of the "shading"... any tips?
I mean I look at the pre-done stuff and zoomed in it looks awfull, yet it
looks great at a distance.... I can't figure out the shading. I was thinking
of scanning logos and stuff and use them as a reference for pixel fills,
or maybe even physically incooperating them into the logo.pcx file, any
ideas? I'm SURE this is what Papyrus MUST have done on the originals, they
would have went out of their MINDS if they painted things pixel-by-pixel!
Help!
