Yeah, except it would have some slow parts too - the best of both
worlds.

N3 to GPL track converter question

by Tim Vanhe » Thu, 30 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Never mind, I found it today and  bought it. Why oh why isn't it based on
the gpl engine?? It's good but it could be MUCH better! The cars can get
airbourne, replays are hard to handle... It still has the aged N2 engine...
Did they do this so people would buy the gpl-engined N4.

And why doen't the converter work at my system? At about 99% of the
convertion it says: Failed to open c:\...\gpl\tracks\nchrltte\bwpic.pbf
(that's for the C***te speedway, but it does it for every track)
Should that file be in that dir, because it isn't.
PLEASE help me out here!

N3 to GPL track converter question

There's a very good reason for Papyrus to not use the GPL engine on N3
and I'm quite thankful they didn't.

The GPL engine was far ahead of its time. The system requirements for GPL
were bad enough , but if they had used it on Nascar Racing 3 , and had
made any improvements to it , we would all have needed a top-of-the-range
PC to barely get it started.

The decision to use the N2 engine , but redesign it , was a very good one
. It was decided that the use of the GPL engine would require such a high
spec PC that it would severely limit the number of people who could run
it.

Don't fret however . With faster processors being developed all the time
, (we're already seeing 1GHz processors on the market!) it won't be long
before Papyrus really do give us something to celebrate.

Have some trust in Papy' . They know what they're doing . They've been
developing some of the best racing simulators for years and are far ahead
of the competition.
