It's a bug in the sim that tends to confuse people. The spotter
incorrectly tells you that you've taken the caution and your
(natural?) reaction is to not pass the pace car.

The long and short of it is that if you're not the leader, you damn
sure should NOT be the first car behind the pace car. If you take the
caution and you're between the pace car and the leader, go ahead and
pass the pace car and catch up to the end of the pace line.  HOWEVER,
you MUST pass the pace car BEFORE he crosses the S/F line or you'll
be stuck at the tail end of the lap you're really on, and you will
have also screwed everyone behind you.

.

I was in 2nd when the caution flew, and was too stupid to realize you
had lapped half of the field. For the folks that weren't there, I was
a good 5 seconds behind in 2nd nursing a bad RF. The caution was a
blessing! Anyhow, I took two tires thinking I needed to maintain my
track position, but if I had known what had happened, I would've taken
4. I should've come in to take left sides before the green, but I
wasn't quick enough to put it all together. Great race, I had one
blunder, which caused some damage to Bluestringer at the beginning,
but 3rd place gives me some new hope. Congrats to Mitch for the win.

BTW, how funny was it when Larry congratulated Brian for the win, when
in reality, he had just got put into the wall by Mitch, then when he
found out, he quickly congratulated Mitch. Maybe not funny for you,
Brian, but it was a funny moment. :)

I was behind the 00 car. Someone said pass the pace car, so I did. The game
keep telling me to stay behind the 00. I was already a lap down because I
had to pit under green and the pit crew took a while to repair some damage I
had from the 1st lap contact with the 31 car, but it showed me 2 laps down
until I passed the pace car, I was then back to 1 lap down, which was
correct.

Well put.  You can't rely on the spotter to tell you when to pass the
pace car... he's a dumb ass.  You have to know what is going on.

Maybe a re-wording is in order.  I didnt *put him in the wall*.  He was
pinching down I was trying to set up an entry into 2.  We met halfway :))
The guy on the outside nearly always takes the brunt.  It was just hard
racin at the end of a race is all.  That said, I would much rather have
raced for win and Im sure BO knows this.

Yeah, that's why I was yelling for everyone to go go go :)

About 4 of us finally got around it.  I didn't know there were more behind.

I was yellin my head off for everyone to go :)

Some of us finally got around, but I guess a few others got screwed.  I had
to get them moving because I couldn't pass them or I would have been BF'd.

Then after we finally got past it, one of the cars (I don't remember which)
was just putting along.  I _finally_ got that car moving and we finally
caught up with the field.

The entire thing messed up any sort of pit strategy.

I was actually getting a handle on this track and haulin' ass pretty good.
Unfortunately, on Lap 25 a car bounced off the wall and came down in to me.
I hit the binders hard to try and avoid it but then got creamed in the rear
by another car.  No fault to the car behind me, he didn't have ANY time to
react.

And, of course, I got the traditional "Engine Damage" for being hit in the
rear.  Dammit I HATE That.

From there I just had to stay out of everyone's way and accept a 9th place
finish.

I ended up passing on purpose, and accepted the black flag penalty.  I got held
15 seconds in the pits, but I think it at least got me back on the lead lap.
If my car hadn't been damaged in 'the big one' I could have actually contended
for the win.  The leaders weren't that much faster, even though my top speed
was only about 185...
Damn, another chance blown. :-(

Didn't you have to server your BF under green though?  Looks like you
would have gone a lap down... unless you could get in and get out
before the field came back around in which case, its a pretty genious
move.

Well, I only finished one lap down, and I *thought* I lost that lap on the
track, not in the pits. Oh well - I'm probably just mis-remembering again...
