I am new to sims, in fact haven't tried one yet.  I now see the NR2003
has road courses.  But I only want to learn one sim at the start.  I am
thinking that since Nr2003 is not officially supported anymore (i.e. not
listed on Sierra'a website), that I should wait for GTR.  Should I wait
or buy a Amazon copy of NR2003?

Thanks,
Dan

If you want the most realistic race simulator around get Toca Race
Driver 2, this hands down beats the pants off everything else out
there.

You won't be dissapointed!!

You should be able to find NR2003 for $10 now, and I dunno...you
really can't go wrong.  It's by far the best sim ever made and it has
fantastic multiplayer.

Toca looks cool but I see no recommended system requirements.  What is
the recommended PC set up?

From the link to download the demo(should be the same as the game)
--------------------------------------------
Minimum Requirements
--------------------------------------------
- Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
- DirectX 9b
- Pentium III or Athlon at 800MHz
- 256Mb RAM
- Supported 32Mb Graphics Card
- DirectX 9 Compatible Sound Card
- 1.2 Gigabytes Hard Disk Space
- 2x DVD-ROM Drive
--------------------------------------------
Recommended Specification
--------------------------------------------
- Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
- DirectX 9b
- Pentium III/4 or Athlon at 1.4GHz
- 512Mb RAM
- Graphics Card: ATi Radeon 8xxx and above, nVidia GeForce 3 and above
- 3.75 Gigabytes Hard Disk Space

Personally, I'd take their *recommended* requirements as MINIMUM.  I've been
burned with minimum requirements before...

Something else I found while searching for the above.  In answer to the
question of damage being switched off for online races:

"Yes. In online races they can be switched between on, off, and forward-only-
where only cars travelling in the correct direction round the track are solid."

I like the fact that reverse drivers can't***up the experience for others
anymore.  It won't keep them from being total jerks, but it removes ONE
problem, at least...

Hi, Dan.

Like other people, I would encourage you to go with NR2003.  I was
never a big fan of oval racing, but the game makes you see why it's so
popular in the US.  And it is a great way to get good online
competition.

There are plenty of great road courses for NR2003, also.  For
starters, download the old Le Mans circuit, Bathurst, Riverside,
Mosport, and one of the many excellent fantasy courses.  I guarantee
you won't be disappointed.  (Although you will have to buy a good
wheel and pedal set of course.)

Yes, GTR looks like it will be great, but NR2003 has a huge online
player base and lots of freely available add-ons.  Plus you can get it
now!

Cheers,
Jason.

RD2 is more fun than a bag full of ferrets in pro-sim mode, but most
realistic it definitely is not.

NR2003, GPL, Netkar, Racer, LFS and F1C all do it better.  I'd even say
most Nascar Heat mods drive better than RD2.

cheers
