GPL screenshots/MPG?

by Kev » Thu, 16 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I'm trying to get some GPL screenshots with limited success.

I've read the readme and checked deja so I know about the pbf2tga.exe
but it doesn't seem to work for me.

I can generate the GPLss##.pbf but they are all 0Kb in size and when I
drag to the pbf2tga.exe program a DOS window pops up for a split second
and then disappears but the file is unchanged and no new files are
present. So far I've only managed to get shots using ALT-screenprint and
then pasting into a graphics viewer.

I'm running in openGL on a TNT2 if that makes a difference.

Also, is there any way to convert replay files to MPEG?

Thanks

Kev

I have no idea about why they're 0K in size, but I don't think that
dragging will work. What you need to do is:

1) Open a DOS box. (ie run command.com)

2) Change to the relevant directory (usually "cd c:\sierra\gpl"

3) Type (for example): "pbf2tga GPLss001.pbf"

4) Ta-da! One TGA file.

Doubt it, but I've no idea.

That's the problem. You can't take screenshots from within GPL
if you are using the OpenGL drivers.

There's GPL Movie Studio, which does just that, but it also takes
screenshots from GPL first, so you'd be out of luck with that
too.

Unless you will settle for the software rendered graphics.

You can get the GPL Movie Studio from http://phlegma.figc.net/

Have you tried using Hyper-snap DX to take screenshots? You can get a trial
version from http://www.hyperionics.com/, where I *think* I saw a capture
utility for making AVI movies which might be of use

I use OpenGL with GPL and take screen shots via the good ol' PRINT SCREEN
button on my keyboard. alt-tab into your image application and paste...save
it as whatever you want.

Oops - you *can* convert to MPEG, with GPL Replay Studio, but you'll
need to get the screenshots working first.

0Kb?  Ok, dumb question.  Are you sure you have space *available* on your HD?
Hey, stranger things have happened...<g>
