You mean with everyone moving to web boards and off unmoderated groups?  You
bet.
FS'n is alive and kicking.  Several new ones are coming out soon as well.

It's too bad.  I don't see the attraction to web based forums.  They are
big, bloated, slow and do not offer the flexibility of news reader
software.  Unfortunately, I have been using the web servers more just
because that is where the good discussions are.

I like http://forum.rscnet.org, but it has been unavailable more times
in the last month than my news services has been unavailable in the last
few years and it is always slower than the news groups!  I don't mean to
slam them, but what is better about a web board expect for the
registration that keeps out spam and jerks?  I can filter them out with
my news software :)

... I guess I'll never understand the attraction, but if I want to share
and get information, I guess I have no choice.

I have gotten great information from the people that use RSC and will
continue to use the service.

You obviously dont know anything about Flight Sims.  Flight Sims are better
than ever.  Numerous quality titles available ATM from multiple genres.

Online racing on the other hand has almost no chance of success.  Win at all
cost idiots that wreck ANYONE that may happen in their way regardless that
its the first fn lap of a 100 lap race..  Then once you make the pass it
makes the idiot mad so he wrecks you cause hes a slowass ho.

And put something on the line and it gets even worse.

Add to that unbelievably huge ego's and we have what is sim racing.

Next youre going to tell us it wasnt the Steroids that killed the
preacher....

Flight sims are doing very well these days. The sole reason I spent the
money to upgrade my Cougar hotas with the Uber2 nxt gimball mod and hall
sensors... what an incredibly smooth, accurate, and heavily programmable
hotas this is now.

Actually, since getting back into flight simming, I haven't done any sim
racing in several months.

IL2 FB/AEP/PF merged install is an incredibly indepth wwII sim, and with the
latest 4.01 update, is awesome! And some incredibly great user made
campaigns. While I have not done much of it yet, online seems to be a blast
as well. I spend the vast majority of my simming time with this one.
Lomac , while I don't yet have it, I do plan to get it - seems to be pretty
popular amongst the jet jockeys, and the new flaming cliffs addon has gotten
a lot of good press.
Falcon 4, look at all the user updates done to it, ie SP4, FF3.. and now,
next week, the newly updated Falcon4 Allied Force is being released. I am
going to have to grab this one, heck, I still have the original Falcon4 with
binder I got off an ebay bid, and have yet to install it. I may have to
install both it and AF , just to compare the two.
EECH - fantastic helicopter war sim, and since the code was released,
several user mods have made it much better.
MSFS 2004 - quite a following, and for civilian aircraft flying, is great.
Just look at the following it has in it's newsgroup...

Put it back in your pants.  There are a bunch of awesome flight sims
coming out in the next year.  I may actually take a long hiatus from
simracing whenever Mig Alley 2 comes out.

I am amazed at what has been done to Falcon 4.0. How old is that title now,
going on 5-6yrs or so? I also bought the original when it was first
released. The large manual is pretty much the same one that actual F-16
pilots used during indoctrination. The things that have been done to bring
it up to date are amazing. The participation of actual pilots in rewriting
the code has been great. I remember playing online on the old F4 server and
my life expectancy was usually less than a couple of minutes.........then I
found that I was going up against a bunch of real F-16 jocks flying in the
Balkins.....:-). I can't think of any sim, flight or racing, that has been
supported this long by dedicated 3rd parties.
