I recall there being a tweak one can make to one of the N2003 files that
allows one to see all the cars on the track--just can't recall what it is.
Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks

There is a line in the core ini that you can change to see all the cars
in a replay.  But if you want to see them ontrack while racing, you just
adjust the number of viewable cars in the graphic options.   Of course MOST
systems will grind to a halt if you do this...  :)

I've used the full field replay setting.   BUt I can't find anything that
refers to it now...anyone?

Thanks Dave, but I found it.

In the "Core" config settings, change the =1 to =0 in the line:

  net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=1

No difference... you can turn on as many cars as you like/your machine can
handle without changing the bandwith settings.

Besides, regardless of what you do client side, unless you change the
settings server side, you won't change the amount of data exchanged. Unless
you set less than the server expects, in which case you won't be able to
connect.

I don't know if there's a setting which allows you to store data for all
cars in the race to a replay without changing the amount of cars in view. If
there is, I'd like to know about and experiment with it.

Well whatever the setting is...I set it last year and can see all the
cars all the way around the track in replay screens(not all at once, mind
you,)  The standard Nr2k3 replay only keeps track of cars near you, so if
there is a-lot of passing and lapping, you will only see certain cars
during certain parts of the replay.   However,  Whatever line I changed,
allows the replay to keep track of all the cars for the full replay length.
I know the modem bandwidth is for online play...but what the heck was
that replay command???

Here is the real answer,

net_use_mdm_bandwidth_for_tcp_ip=1

This will tell the server to use the lan setting usually has follow
net_lan_client_send_every=2              ; Client packet freq on LAN
net_lan_client_send_size=260             ; Client packet size on LAN
net_lan_server_send_every=2              ; Server packet freq on LAN
net_lan_server_send_size=772             ; Server packet size on LAN

Unless the server side core.ini has changed those to the same has net_mdm
something i do, against people who change to net use mdm, you will use those
packet size and frequency. This will enable you to see MORE cars, not
necessarly ALL cars. If you want to see all cars on the replay get the
server replay, if your present server does supply you replay, then get in
touch with me ;-)

JD posted the correct change. That shows all the cars in a replay but makes
no difference to what you see in a race.

Odd, I can't see that making a difference unless you are able to change it
server side too. Will have to try and see.

Servers, at least dedicated ones, automatically save all the cars.
