Momo Power Problems HELP!

by J.R. » Thu, 27 Nov 2003 01:32:09

Quoting a thread I found on groups.google.com dated August 26th 2003:

"I got this MOMO (brand new) from a friend a while ago.  It has been
working.
For months I haven't played anything with my wheel because I was playing
with my Xbox.  Yesterday I bought an ATI 9800 pro and really want to get
back to PC *** again.  I just fired up the wheel but no light comes on.
The wheel is not "turned" on as if no power is getting through.  The adaptar
is warm though.  I only paid $25 for it.  :-)  This is the "black" version
with soft *** on the wheel.  I opened that sucker up and saw that it was
gear driven!!!!!!  Now, I want to get the old "red" cable-driven Wingman
from JustDeal.  My question is that would it run on WinXP?  I once had that
same wheel but forgot if it would work with a serial to USB converter????"

=======================

I've seen several posts like this where the power seems to just cut out on
the Momo, but does anybody know WHY? I need to troubleshoot this :(

1) The old red wheel will only work with the Serial->USB cable.
2) You might want to try the wheel on another PC to check if
its a wheel problem. Alternatively, you should try another wheel
on the PC to check if its an internal usb problem.

I had read somewhere that the Power Supplies for these wheels are sometimes
going bad.  I can't remember where I read that though.  May be worth
checking onto...
