An innacurate physics engine running at twice the speed is no more than just
that.

Could they not just build accurate tracks in the first place - some tracks
are totally inrecogniseable.  If F1RC can have accurate tracks - why can't
F12001 and for that matter - if they're trying to work around the dodgy
bumps - why cant F12002.

And would someone please mention the words "NET CODE"  "CLUNKY MENU SYSTEM"
and "PLEASE GOD NOT MORE GRIM ROSENTHAL"

No having a go, it just pisses me off when companies pay for an F1 licence
and fundamentally abuse it.

Ian, do your aformentioned conversations give you (and us) any insight into
how mod-able this game will be, compared to the current one?   It took
awhile to crack the car and track models - I hope we can hit the ground
running with this one...

I don't get to hear too much, but the formats are very similar. What I have
heard is that the file system is very close between them, so modability of
2002 should pose the same degree of difficulty as 2001. I hope :-)

The 'guy' was me.  I heard it from an EA rep, but in further discussions, I
realised that he was referring to the fact that the game was being made more
playable with joypads and keyboards.  As far as I can tell, no dumbing down
of the physics has occurred - simply an improvement to the steering assists
options.

This modification of driving aids was also clearly stated in the recent
interview at gamespot uk (I believe that's the site).  Doug didn't care to
read the interview, since relying on hearsay - which is inherently
unreliable - is much more convenient for a cynic. ;0)

   < Snip >

I've only been to a couple of tracks.  I'm glad to finally
drive downhill from *** to Marabou at Monaco.  In F1 2000
that was a drive uphill, in F1 CS 2000 it was level.  At least
that was what it felt like to me.

   Where are the track inaccuracies?

So Locutus will do a new mts-filter for F1 2002?.
Or is he still gone from the mod-scene?.

Not gone Andreas :-) He's part of the SimBin Development team. And yes, he
will be working on a filter for F1-2002

BriGuy, latest info is that it will be every bit as modable as F1-2001. Just
some of the file formats have changed. Should be able to move forward on the
mods quickly.

I think we need a "dumbed down" version of Mr. Ellison.

I don't even dare to think of such a thing
