Problems with slow graphics in Indycar 1.0.5.

I am having problems with slow graphics in Indycar 1.0.5.

I am running it on a 486-PC with 25 Mhz, but I have 16 MB of RAM and a
256K cache built in. I only seem to be able to race against a maximum of
three cars when I turn the detail level way down.

Are there any additional options I need to set ??

Do I need to upgrade my machine to be able to race against all cars at
once.??

If so, does anyone have any experience upgrading their machine for this
purpose??

Should I upgrade my CPU to a 66MHz processor, or should I get a video
card graphics accelerator??

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

I was also having problems with slow graphics in Indycar with
a 486/33. I purchased an overdrive processor (DX2 66) & it made a
great deal of difference. The extra ram doesn't seem to matter
that much other than the amount of replay the game saves in the
VCR mode. I would recommend the DX4 100 overdrive chip. I would
have gotten that one, but it wasn't available at the time. You
may have to change some jumpers in order to get it to run
properly, but that is easy enough. I called Intel & they gave me
the necessary info...on second thought call them before you buy &
ask what they recommend. Then buy it thru a mail order house.
You'll probably save some money.
   Good luck...
