Getting Papyrus in trouble?

I posted a message the other day talking about having someone design
tracks that are not included in Nascar 2.  Everyone seems to be so
concerned that Daytona, Indy, etc.. will try to take legal actions
resulting in never seeing a REAL Daytona or maybe a Nascar 3.  Well, if
you look how we have already altered the game by adding such names and
logos as Dale Jarrett, E. Irvin, Texaco, Super 8 Hotels, and list goes
on.  As you remember none of this came with the orignal game. Yet, we
have all updated our current driver line up without question.  Why would
Daytona be any different?  Here is a question for thought, did Daytona
license its name and track design, or just the name?  Chuck

Daytona licensed to Sega the entire rights for the name, image,
trademark etc.  To protect the rest of it's Nascar license, Papyrus
has to continually police the creative use of the Daytona track by us
simple folks.  I've heard some people whisper that some special
announcement will be made about extra tracks when the NRO comes
online, but that is only speculation.  I'd be willing to be even if
Daytona was available for the NRO, then the licenseing agreement would
probably be very constrictive, i.e only allowing the use of the
Daytona track on TEN in conjunction with the NRO.
Licensing can be Very complicated.  The flight sim folks are going
through many of the same problems with the new
F22 Raptor and it's related sims.
