In the meantime Racer looks great on a PB G4. The install was a piece of
cake as well. Great work Ruud!

I have a 400 MHz G3 and a Radeon 7000 (VE) and still had to turn nearly
all the gfx options off to get decent fps on MacOS X.
Also, this one wants a wheel, of course. (Mac users usually don't have
wheels since there haven't been any (!) race sims since Nascar 1 in
1996.) I was not-too-shabby with the keyboard in GPL, but in this one I
can only manage a measly 1:21.799 on the Indy F1 course... Gotta look at
a USB wheel I guess...
Still, hats off to Feral for finally giving us a racing game. Even if
it's only F1 2000 (!) CS and no GPL...
Yeah! Ruud is da man! (The other Ruud, that is! ;)
Drove around the Nurburgring Nordschleife on a Mac... Cool! ;) Too
bad the track's still so bumpy (buggy). Still, when this is done, it may
five F1 2000 (!) a run for its money on the Mac.
Regards, Ruud (the other one)
Sheesh, why do the zealots always come out of the woodwork...

And I agree Apple's 'switch' campaign deserves all the ridicule it gets.
It's quite stupid, really.

(Note that should be 1:16.2 now, after changing some setups ;) Still,
it does need a wheel really. Most USB wheels should do with the USB
Overdrive util on the Mac..
Yeah, me too.. (and SCGT, in my case. Not much else will run decently on
my old PII setup...)
I was looking around and saw
It is, 45 Megabytes. Turns out we will be able to use several pc files
(track updates, tracks?) on the Mac version, since it seems they have
preserved the old .mas and .aiw-structures.

The Racer files are also cross-platform compatible, as I understand it.
Jim
SNIP!
http://www.usboverdrive.com
Versions for both 9 and X. Driver works with mice and etc. (for mice,
better drivers than logictech, not quite as good as kennsington
mouseworks). Shouldn't be necessary for wheels (see below).
Amen!!!! 'Specially since I'm w/o a peecee till later this year so no
GPL or F1 2k2 till then.
MOMO force is working fine, don't even need usboverdrive, as the wheel
goes right to the hid.
Apple should be adding FF sometime soon (we hope ;-) and Feral will
release a FF patch soon after.
I grabbed some 2002 cars from:
http://www.natazone.narod.ru/f1cs2000_3.htm
the ferrari works (and has tobacco decals), with the demo and the
others should work with the full game (put the toyota in the prost
folder).
I DL'd several setups for Indy, they work. New tracks (Sebring, LSeca),
don't. Think it's a demo issue and they should be fine for the full
version.
car mods (brake glow, new tires etc.), need to be edited on the pc or
virtual pc (.mas thing), saved and opened on the mac.

Mmmmm,.... Racer

Yes, they are. I downloaded the Zandvoort, Brands, Brno and Nurburgring
tracks and they work fine. Some tracks (like Brands) slow things way
down though, while Zandvoort and Brno are OK.

Any more Mac "Racer" users out there?
