Does anyone know how to modify the in-car engine sound in F1RS?
I would like more base to feed my seat-shaker. I've found some WAV files
installed on my hard drive (full instalation) but none seem to affect the
in-car sound. Am I missing something or is the in-car sound generated
elsewhere?
Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Geoff, what you want to do should be rather easy.
You'll need a util like CoolEd, this works great with the particular
file you'll be working on.
The file your looking for is in F1RS/F1DATAB/RESSON and is called
bnk_0.bnm. When opening the file with CoolEd choose the "all files"
option. When asked the sample rate select 22/16bit/mono.
You'll now be able to play the file and you'll hear all the sounds
that are in the game. Edit away :)
I replaced the sound that you hear when downshifting with silence,
that one really got on my nerves. I cant see why you wont be able to
select a particular portion, like the engine sound, and make it more
basey. Let us know if you find a good engine sound.
Good luck.

Tony
p.s. Thanks go to Roland for finding the bnk_0.bnm file.

While we're on this subject, does anyone know of a good sound editor
(have been using Creative WaveStudio, but doesn't work that well) that
can actually merge/mix two sounds together?  Need it actually for
ICR2....

Take a look at the forum at http://www.f1racingsim.com/    it`s all
explained there about how to change the sounds in F1RS.

You should try Cool Edit Pro, it probably one of the best and you can
mix multiple wav's together!
