Iain,

I don't know anymore. F12000, F1RC, F1RS. ;/

Yes, overcoming my punting issues with F1RS not F1CS.

All F1'ed out,
Rod.

That part of the reply was about being forgiving, nothing else. So my reply
is consistent.

F1CS2K Question

by Matt Lanze » Tue, 17 Jul 2001 21:23:30

F1CS2K is the only modern F1 sim that gets any use on my puter. F1RC and GP3
don't do it for me at all. I have it patched with Bodin's All-Chassis patch
(***, of course ;) ), and play it more than GPL on F1 weekends...

Warlock!

F1CS2K Question

Yes, how a sim feels is a never ending topic and has been talked over and
over to death. It attracts popularity and is a perfect source for flame
wars. Everyone should happily drive whatever they "like". It is a pure
subjective thema and any effort to make it an objective one is futile. The
only thing I objected was the claim that F1CS2K being forgiving.

F1CS2K Question

It gives distinctive physical behaviour to each car and makes them less
sluggish but more agile. It's included in the MagicBox packet under the
physics section. Here, take a look :
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
way to try different game settings without messing up the original game
files.

Some say "*** Physics" is the best, but keep in mind you'll have the
tweak your setups a bit to use with this new car physics. So, don't give up
at the first spin.

F1CS2K Question

The claim about being forgiving - which you and I have discussed before -
was relating to reactions to mistakes, ie. too much kerb, etc. and the ease
with which one can stay on the track.  It may relate to the sluggish feel of
the driving experience in F1CS but, as you say, it's only an opinion!

And my point was that if one does really push it to the limit, it won't take
long find out that it's not easy at all to stay on track. We are not driving
a sedan sim after all.

F1CS2K Question

by Thom j » Wed, 18 Jul 2001 08:33:35

No worries Ian. I was only curious thats all. Thanx for the info Thom_j.

| No I haven't raced a 2000 F1 car, but you can see clearly from TV coverage
| that they don't have anywhere near the suspension movement shown (and
felt)
| in F1 2000 and CS. You can also see they change direction far quicker, far
| more responsively than the ones modelled in the EA sims.
| I have driven a sand buggy however, and F1 2000 feels oh so similar ;)
| I'm not saying the other modern F1 sims are totally accurate, but they
feel
| more like I'd expect an F1 sim to behave.
| BTW, I'm hoping to actually get a go in a modern(ish) F1 car sometime next
| year, funds permitting, so if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to tell you :)
|
|
| Just incase you're interested, I also haven't driven a NASCAR, but N4
seems
| to model the driving very closely to what I'd expect from seeing them on
TV.
| IMO it's technically the best sim currently available.
|
|
| I'm not being a wise azz either, just stating my opinions on the current
| sims and how they feel to me.
