Is there a better editor for ICR than IndyEdit?  This programme
trully sucks.

What is IndyEdit, and what does it do?  I've never heard of it.  I only know
of the editors that come with ICR and of Corrigan's Replay editor.

Leading the charge to educate the public to the complexity of creating
simulation software.

IndyEdit is on the didnt.doit.wisc.edu server and it will only
see the original car sets and tracks.

Damn!  Start a sucking ICR series and you get smug.  I am well
aware of the complexity and that is all the more reason why a
creator/editor is possible.

series.

I am new and who cares who old the series really is.

I have registered twice and have yet to hear from you about the
series.

'Lack of knowledge'?  You have know idea what I know.  I have
already made a train sim for Lisp and Garnet.  The thing is, I DO know
what is involved and that is why I 'insist' on an editor.  And it does
belong in the game.  In the software world, you are only as good as your
last upgrade and how expandable your product is.  ICR can only get so
good on slow machines like PC's and eventually it will have to be user
expandable or it will fade away.  Duh.  You get the clue!

Byron:
Give it up already, man!  As we've seen here through your numerous
posts re: a track editor, you and maybe one or two other guys are the only
ones who really want this feature.  It ain't gonna happen, so quit fussing
about it!  Most of the people reading the posts in this group prefer
mastering the existing tracks through bettering the car setups and our own
driving skills.  I am one of those people - I don't have the slightest
interest in building my own track or racing someone else's made-up track -
leave that to the Super Nintendo players playing Super Mario Kart!

says...

Never!  Without a creator/editor, this game will fade away into
nothing in a few years (at most).  Besides, my original post had nothing
to do with this.  I found the programme IndyEdit on the didnt.doit server
and wondered if there was a better or newer one out.  This version will
only recognize the original tracks and cars.  Although it was fun to
boost Lyn's power up and watch her take the pole.

Absolutely, I agree that ICR 1.0 will not be as popular as it is now, but not
because it will fade away... because it will be improved upon, just as the
chipsets inside our computers will improve.  Just as our telecommunications
will improve.  Just as just about everything will improve... exponentially
Imight add.  If your first computer was not in the early eighties, you have NO
idea the progress that's been made in just the last 3 years alone.  If you
want to hold onto ICR for 5 or more years, you'll be lost in the dust... just
like the IndyCars of 10 years ago can't compete with today's models.

Bryon, Bryon... you just LOVE wasting our time dontcha?

It's not a matter of who cares.  You insinuated that I just started a series.
I was setting the record straight.  As for your being new, we all could figure
that out by the way you just jumped in and started babbling without thinking.
Mighty brave of you in this cold and impersonal world of ***space.

You have registered twice.  Haven't seen hide nor hare from you with the
exception of direct e-mail copies of some of your posts to this group.
However, at this point, should I receive your registration, I can reserve the
right to reject it.  That hasn't happened yet, there's been no need, for no
one has been so antagonistic toward the progress Papyrus is making as you.
Many of us have our requests and wished for 2.0, but we also have the sense to
understand what is good marketing strategy, which a track editor for a
simulation of this caliber is not.

                                        ^^^^
                               I KNOW you can't spell.

Well, that's wonderful, but we're not discussing a train sim.  But if you
were able to create a high quality train sim for Lisp and Garnet all by your
little 'ol self, you should definitely take my advice and create your own
IndyCar Sim, make million$, and quit expecting YOUR track editor from Papyrus.

Fade away, I think not... it will be replaced, just as computers are. If not,
we'd all still be playing the original Zork.  Don't hold us back just because
YOU want to hold onto a game that will eventually be replaced.  Create your
own track editor for ICR 1 and continue playing that one.  We'll move on to
2.0.

In the software world you're only as good as your next upgrade, and
expandability from the outside has nothing to do with it.  Papyrus has every
intention of adding the tracks that belond in the set.  Unfortunately
licensing prevents them from getting Daytona for Nascar racing and who knows
what obstacles will occur in their pursuit to finish ICR 2.0 due to the new
IRL.  Word is he's put a clamp on IMS for ICR now too.  That doesn't give us a
reason to createthe track ourselves.

I suggest you take a second look at your train sim... you seem to have
derailed.
