I have played a demo of it that just let you drive around the qualification
track i think it said.  The graphics were very smooth on my pentium 90 with
stealth 64 video card.  I didn't like the Hi-Res mode bacause I demand a very
smooth frame rate.  Hires on Nascar and Indycar II is much smoother.
I have to admit though that in lowres mode it is very nice.  Looks much better
than Super Karts in my opinion.  The graphics are more realistic and the
buildings and other structures went by very nicely.  Also the road has
texturing that looks very nice as it goes by, better that nascar or indy in my
opinion.  I have Nascar, Superkarts, Indycar II and Destruction Derby to keep
me busy but after running around the Virtual Karts qualification track by
myself for about 1/2 hour I went out to the stores looking for it.  I think
it'll be a winner!

I saw it at Electronic Boutique in Glendale shopping center, BUT, like
they said in the NFL a few years back, upon further review, I think it
was just an empty box as a teaser.  I didn't ask any questions because
my DX2/50 would puke trying to run it- it can't even do the ICR2demo
well.  So it may not actually be out yet.  Sorry.

It IS out...I saw it in the store today...with a price tag on it, and
stuff inside.. :)  From the MPS home page:

DOS 5.0 or higher,  CD-ROM only
Minimum Requirements:                   IBM-PC or compatibles 486-66 or
                                             higher, 8MB RAM, 20MB hard
                                             graphics, CD-ROM drive, mouse
     Supports:                               Ad Lib(R),  Pro Audio
                                             Spectrum(TM),  Sound Blaster(R)

The price was $69 Canadian...so about $50 US.  I'll wait for a demo before buying.
ICR2 is plenty enough fun for now... :)

Speaking of which, anyone know a internet site where I can get a Virtual
Karts and Destruction Derby demo?

Hi Robert,

A VIRTUAL KARTS demo is now available at:

ftp.microprose.com/pub/mps-online/demos/vkdemoj.zip

which includes joystick support.  If mouse support is all that you
require, download file:

vkdemo.zip

Best,

It sucks (can I say that?) I mean it stinks. Graphics are awsome if you
have a Cray supercomputer. It's mainly boring once you play it a couple of
times.

I agree, it's very very very very very &^%$ boring

Slow, stupid, uncompleted and boring ;-)
