Making an AVI file with FRAPS?

Making an AVI file with FRAPS?

I tried to record a saved replay of a lap in a F1 2k2 mod.  I used Fraps
and chose the 30fps setting for recording.  The first several turns were
very very slow with huge jumps from point to point.  After the first set of
turns the framerate picked up and smoothed out...But now the avi was
playing at about 2x speed.  The lap went by in less than half the time
normally needed.
Has anyone used Fraps to record replays?  What settings 'should' I use
to get a normal speed avi?

I think 30 fps is too ambitious for fraps (too much add'l strain on the
system).  I made a few avi's in the Tiger Woods demo and I used 12-15 fps
IIRC and they looked pretty good.  BTW, I think you need to set the game res
to 640x480 to get full screen replays (if that interests you).

Thanks that's what I've been hearing.   Someday I'll actually have to
learn HOW to make proper videos.
