In fact to be more specific I'm just tryiong to extract the sound of an RPY
file to make a ringtone for my phone.
so I was thinking about making an avi file, then get the wav out and then
send it to the phone, unless there's a "GPL2WAV" program of some sort...

you can record the sound with the latest version of Movie Studio. I can't
remember if it saves it as a wav file or appends it to the video .avi file,
but in that case you can extract it as wav with Virtualdub.

Best bet is something like goldwave or soundforge. you just need to set
the audio control panel to record 'what you hear' can it should make a
wav from in game.
Alternatively, why not just use one of the engine wavs in the GPL/sound
folder.
