JD>I've gotten both of the demos and am trying to decide which to buy
JD>first. I have a couple of questions related esp. to the NASCAR demo
JD>since it is playable.
JD>1. I have a CH Virtual Pilot, but no pedals. How do those of you
Personally, I'd go with a small joystick over what you have. It's VERY
workable. Most experienced drivers of both ICR and NCR prefer the
Thrustmaster T1 for these sims.
JD>3. Is it possible to control the replay playback in the (NASCAR)
JD>demo?
Not sure what you mean by "control" in both sims, you can
start/stop/rewind/save etc.
JD>I'm torn between the obvious improvements to graphics in NASCAR and
JD>what I believe would be the more fun (for me) Indycar format. More
JD>fun refers to the number of road courses. From looking at the NASCAR
JD>box, there is a single road course?
My estimate from the Papyrus BBS is that 90% of the Pent 90 users still
run the Nascar sim in VGA...just like IndyCar. The graphic load is too
intense for ANY current PC today except for showing off to friends. To
run in SVGA requires most all of the fancy texturing to be turned off
and the frame rate slowed way down.
Papyrus is coming out with a track add on package for NASCAR. I don't
know what tracks. At the BEST, I think you will only see one additional
road course. In the sim, a NASCAR stocker handles like a school bus at
Watkins Glenn. If you like road courses, then I'd go with ICR.
Since these are sims, and NOT arcade games, the road courses on both
games are really difficult in the "damage on" mode. Compare these
products to Falcon3 in their realism... not ANY other auto game.
