weird problem with TOCA2 and TNT2

by gmo.. » Sat, 03 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi,

I just bought a Sidewinder FF wheel,  along with it I bought TOCA2 as
I wanted a good racer that would use FF and the demo appealed to me.

Unfortunately,  there seems to be a weird problem with the graphics
on my Xentor32 card.  When I'm in***pit mode,  the top fifth of the
screen is corrupted.  Basically it looks like theres an overlay of some
other part of the screen on it ... like maybe a 'mirroring' effect gone
wrong or something.  The mirror is enabled and is working fine,  as it
is positioned below the area of the screen that is affected.

The demo version also had the same problem,  but I'd hoped that the
shipping version had maybe been improved or patched.  I've tried the
official 1.30 Guillemot drivers for the card,  as well as the 1.88
'Detonator' reference drivers from nVidia - the problem persists.  Res.
is 1024x768 and the problem is present in both 32 and 16 bit colour
depth.

Does anyone have any ideas whats happening here and possibly some
suggestions (patch, different drivers, tweaking gfx options?)

Cheers,

   Gavan

There is a vsync problem with the 1.88 drivers that causes this problem.
There are 1.91 drivers*** around that fixed this problem on my PC. Got
to RIVAZONE or Riva3D to get them.

Thanks,  I'll give them a go.  Looks like its definitely related to
the mirror ... If I turn off the mirror, the problem goes away.

TOCA2 seems to be a great game,  its been years since I was into
driving sims but this has got me hooked.  Maybe the fact that I just got
a Sidewinder FF wheel has enhanced the whole thing for me.  Theres just
no comparison to using a 'real' wheel and pedals for driving sims, and
FF is the icing on the cake.
