Mad Catz Andretti Racing Wheel review

by John Bod » Thu, 27 May 1999 04:00:00

The IRL Insider Magazine staff has just completed a review of the Mad
Catz Andretti Racing Wheel, and we were pleasantly surprised at the
performance and quality of this new wheel.  Force Feedback wheels are
getting all the attention, but there are some great non-Force Feedback
wheels on the market right now, and the Andretti Racing Wheel may
qualify as one of the great ones.

I have one and as the previous owner of a Thrustmasater GP1, Thrustmaster
NASCAR Pro, and Logitech Formula.
I must say that the Andretti wheel is, very good.  Especially for the
$69.00 advertised price.

No dual-axis support?  How do you brake?  USB support is nice, No DOS
support?  Hmmm, to bad, I was putting my shoes on to get this motha, but
hesitant now.  My Naz Pro wheel has seen its last days, maybe just get
another.

Braking is quite easy.  I feel that the digital microprocessor more than makes
up for the "lack" of dual-axis support. (And it definetly does help frame
rate).
