Signed up for WinVroc, I get the chat window but no list of races appears. I
installed the patch, and am not behind a firewall. (AT7T RoadRunner cable).

Any ideas?

Go into your VROC folder and in the vroc.ini change address to 216.7.136.5

Thanks, J.J.! It seemed to work. Now I just have to practice for another
week or three.......

Now the races show up, but every time I try to join one, it launches GPL
then drops me back into VROC.

I had assumed the procedure was like N4, maybe not. I'm starting to
personalize this!

Hi Peter,
Same problem here exactly. Join a race, GPL starts, GPL closes, back to
WinVroc and re-loads server list. Been happening ever since I tried first
time, around a Month or so ago. Long given up on it as nobody here, or on
various forums seems to know what's wrong! Strictly and AI offline racer
now.

Don't know if it'll help, but I get the same thing happening to me when
I enable FSAA on my GeForce2.  Disable the FSAA & it'll connect to the
race with no problem.

FSAA is disabled- still no luck. Sierra works great for me with N4;
fortunately GPL is pretty good as a solo hotlapping game (unlike NASCAR).

This whole GPL/VROC thing has been a big tease.

Mad Max, do you have a GeForce card? I have one and this may be a factor.
Assume you have antialiasing off.

Peter & Max,

Just caught the end of this thread but I have to agree with Fester.  I
recently upgraded to a GF2 GTS and was still able to race via VROC.  Then,
just last week, I sussed out how to enable anit-ailising and then suffered
EXACTLY the same problems you describe.

No disrepect meant, but are you 100% sure anti-ailising is disabled?

Really hope you get this craked as GPL with "real" drivers is a whole new
sim.

Cheers
Stewart

If that's not it, the only other problem I'm aware of is that some
people have trouble connecting with VROC if ZoneAlarm is running.  If
you have ZoneAlarm, try it after disabling it.  If not, I'm out of
ideas.  :-)

Just re-installed on the 2nd HD and now I connect fine to VROC. Must have
been some corrupt file on the 1st install.

Problem is, having witnessed a couple of races on VROC, I realize I'm weeks
away from competing. Actually got kicked out of a server- I think- after
some maladroit practicing at Kyalami.

I use ZA: Always it has locked my Vroc race tries! I have been able
to take part to the practice, to chat, ... but always my pc has freezed
and needed a reboot. The best was: chat, practice, chat, starting
grid, where it freezed. I've got that long only once... :-(

No, I will not remove the firewall... Would it be possible to create
a system similiar of N4 to GPL? In N4 I can race on-line using ZA.

Arto I went to Zone Alarm Pro and this gave you "Options" to set
each program to pass thru Zapro you wanted via it's path on your
HD too.. Nice setup..imho Thom_j.

ZA pro is the way to go here ARTO....GPL doesn't allow you to cntrol-tab
back to the desktop and grant access thru Zone Alarm.  ZA is not really
locking up GPL, it's just holding the system in pause until it gets a reply
to the message box it displayed...which you can't see cause it doesn't
overlay GPL.  As Thom stated..the pro version allows you to grant access in
advance of running GPL.
Also many users have stated they have had much sucess with another
firewall called Tiny.
