Glad to hear it...:)  I have heard that Super Mario Cart has a LOVELY
arcade view...hehehehehehehhehehehhehehehehhehehehehehehheheheheheh
If God had meant Sim racers to float 10 behind their cars, he'd have given
us
gamepads for Fingers....

Hehe.  Just because I hate not being able to see a damn thing in the***pit
and having no clue where my wheels are at and usually ending up wrecking into
another car while in the***pit doesn't mean that I don't like realistic
physics.  I just hate the incar view!  Too clausterphobic for me.  Not to
mention I don't have force feedback so I appreciate the visual cues of the
arcade view.

Like others have said, it's best to get your braking done before the
crest.  I can usually start braking just after that sign on the left
disappears from view - the one Steve Smith mentions in his book - and
get it all done before the dip and then start to turn in as I go over
the crest and before I can even see the corner.   However, you could
also try moving the brake balance a bit more towards the fronts for now
if this is giving you major problems.  It may cause your fronts to lock
up a bit more often until you get used to it, but less chance of what's
happening at the moment.

No person's opinions can be said to be
more correct than another's, because each is
the sole judge of his or her own experience.

Unfortunately, I think more and more users will be 'tailgunners.'  As
the 2nd and 3rd generations of Nintendo and Playstation drivers graduate to
computers, they will bring the skills honed from years of driving behind the
car.
One of SCGT's most glaring weakness was the fact they had NO dash until very
late in development(thank the beta testers for getting one in.)  It really
should be the CORE of a sim.  All the feedback, the visual cues, the sounds,
are in the***pit...not floating like a kite behind the car.
I'm pleased for you Dan that you can run so well using the arcade view.  I
just have this very personal bias against that....not the folks who use
it...just I'm pretending to be a race driver...not a race kite...If I was 10
seconds faster in tailgunner mode I'd still give up that speed cuz when I'm
in the***pit, I'm 'driving' the car.  When I'm floating behind it, I'm
just moving it from side to side.

I am a back seat driver as well, but not ashamed of it - quite simply,
I'm faster that way. Being faster gives me a better chance of winning,
and the current top man in the business certainly supports the
attitude 'do anything to win'.

(I haven't yet sussed how to nudge opposition off the track without
damaging my own lap, though - that must be advanced stuff!).

That's about it for me also ;-)

I'm sorry but after two years of extensive GPL racing I simply can't master
that chicane if I had my life depending on it.  9 times out of 10 I will
pass the Monaco chicane without a problem, but there is still 10% left where
I just crash.

Still, I always said that the Monaco chicane is wrongly modeled in GPL.  It
wasn't like that back in 67.
