N3 Questions..

by Dave St.Ong » Sun, 30 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I have a couple of questions.  First, when I'm racing online and have been
wiped out, I usually like to watch the remainder of the race.  However, when
I do this and click on another car in the replay, the view shifts back to
the pace car in the pits.  Switch to a different car, it switches back to
pace car after a few seconds.  I can only select a car that is in close
proximity of the pits.  Why doesn't it work correctly like GPL??

Secondly, is there a place where there are hotlaps/setups for N3, primarily
for Talladega.  I just can't seem to find a good setup for qualifying, and
the guys online can really fly around the track...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

It does work.  You just have to make sure that you click on the ==> button
under the replay screen to get you to the latest portion of the race.  If
you don't click on it, you will start watching at some point just after the
race starts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it reverts back to the pace car
when/if the focused car blinks out due to warping.

Yes, if the car you are watching burps or warps, you will go back to your car or
the pace car. If you and the person you are watching have a fast connection, you
can watch him race. I do get little burps in the video as i watch (DSL Modem)
but it sticks to him most of the time. Very fun to give play by play comments of
the leaders. hehe

Ok, Talladega has to be the easiest track I've ever set a car up for.  Let me
give you the basics for a qualifying setup:

1.  100% grill tape
2.  100% stiff suspension all the way around
3.  60 psi in every tire
4.  Full stiff sway bars
5.  3.10 or so 4th gear

Drive the track flatout, of course.  Run at the very bottom of the track, don't
let the car drift high.  Run VERY smooth.  You'll be running over 200 mph
average speeds if you do all this.
