Anyone out there tried this device yet, care to share your testimonial, was
it really worth $180 ????

Obviously you missed the bit about the 1 inch drill bit and 1 inch
bolts.

With your feet "holding" the base down, unless your clowning around it
should be pretty stable. personally Id mount it to plywood sheet, along
with holes in that sheet to stop the chair I have from rolling :)

This issue about fitment of the clamping mechanism is the only factor you
might need to take into account

As with anything unknown, it is difficult to establish, without using the
stand, exaclty how it is likely to perform under "race" conditions.
The inventor has made the device from heavy gague steel and it weighs in at
around six kilograms, all this is an important part of his desire to have
the stand stable during game play.
The Pro Racer has been tested by both experienced and novice users to
establish its performance in game play.
One axis, namely the forward axis will lift up relatively easily. This has
the advantage of being able to push the wheel forward, up and away from you
as you get out of the chair. Lateral stability is excellent. Unlike some
stands you don't have to get up off the floor when you are finished playing.
Maybe the group would like to nominate a "Test Driver" or maybe even a
"Crash Test Dummy" for that matter, haha.
The person needs to be able to write a short review and post it to the
group, so that we can all share in a independant viewpoint on the devices
performance.
We distribute from Australia so an Aussie tester would keep my shipping cost
down for the test.

Thanks for the idea. I think I'll look into making one for myself.

The weight is an important consideration in the stability.
PVC would be too light to give you the stability you're after.
PVC is also more flexible than the steel when under load, your device might
end up looking similar but will not work the same.
The six kg the device weighs is the minumum the inventor would permit
because of the stability issue.

I'm quite prepared to do a detailed report. I live in Queensland and have
been looking at getting a race frame but really wanted something portable.
If that's AU$180 then it's actually not a bad deal.
Great to hear that you will take on the challenge.
We need some independant thoughts on the device to lay to rest some of the
obvious concerns with this type of device.
I will send the Pro Racer steering wheel stand for your review and comments.
