Guillimot Ferrari wheel hassles

Quite a while ago i picked up a guillimot ferrari wheel for my brother at a
cheap price, however NEVER has it worked properly and im about to spit it.
Its only because of the drivers, what happens is it has a dead zone, but
instead of the normal way a dead zone works, once it gets to the end of the
dead zone it jumps to where it would normally be. I dont know if it makes
sence but basically the first few degrees of the wheel dont exist which
makes it impossible to adjust going down the straight. I can get it going
properly but every time i turn the computer off it has to be redone and
frankly isnt worth the effort. Has anyone got this piece of sh!t to work
consitantly, and properly????

Thanks in advance!

Yea, the software that comes with the wheel sucks. Junk it and
configure the wheel as a generic joystick. No dead zone, and a lot of
control for a cheap wheel. Mmine has been working fine for 2 years -
except for the paddle return springs, which you can replace with
replicas made from 1mm diameter piano wire.....they all fail at the
same time, so replace them all while you have the wheel apart.

My Guillemot Ferrari (Force Feedback) Wheel has never had dead zone
problems - in fact I've never had any problems with it in over 2 years. You
may have a faulty wheel so if its still under warranty try getting it
replaced.

Try DXTweak (or similar) to reduce/elim the dreaded Dead Zone.

I'm not saying it's not a driver problem, but what OS are you using?
It sounds more like a dirty or worn pot. Try spraying it with Tuner Cleaner.
If the wheel is used, it may work or it may need a new pot. If you bought
the wheel new, it may just be dirty (they can get oxidized just sitting
around) and the cleaning will work well.

If you are using XP, try these drivers (25.14).
