<<What a crock! Does anyone who regularly visits this newsgroup
really expect a patch from Papyrus to steal Microproses' thunder?>>
If GPII is as good as I'm (we're?) expecting, no.
<<The reason it's being delayed is not because of marketing,
although I hate marketing people, it's to do with final revisions and
quality assurance and, maybe, the inertia that a giant like Sierra
has.>>
Here's the question labored by most contributors to this group: Why
is "The Patch" (tm) taking so long when the full Win95/new DOS/Mac
versions are in the store? How can quality assurance be an issue when
there is a full version available that, I hope, has already had some
degree of quality assurance testing. I know the Papierra employees are
sick of our ranting, but, as my dad always says, acting in extreme
defense is sometimes as good as admitting you're wrong.
Do I expect them just to sit back and take it while we trash them?
No. If someone called me on a screw-up I made I'd be upset, too.
<<Papyrus can talk about the patch, and in their eyes it may be
finished, but the "bureaucracy" which accompanies such a large firm like
Sierra prevents the finished product from being posted immediately.>>
By George, I think he's got it! Remember this: Companies are out to
make money first and help the customer sometime well after that. Nobody
goes into business "...because I want to help the consumer."
Whatever Papierra does with the patch/upgrade/whatever will be in
their own best interests, not the public's.
