May be of interest to the GPL folk amongst us - the February 2000 issue of
'Motorsport' magazine here in the UK (no obvious sign to say it's available
outside the UK).

The main feature is a 10-page comparison of the 1967 Eagle & 1969 Lotus 49.
Lots of good pictures & info on just about everything you could wish to know
about the cars.

The other feature is about the 'Ring. 8-page track test of the Nordschleife
as it is now compared to back in the sixties.

A great issue of a magazine for any GPL'er I'd say.

I bought this issue last week, just because of the cover photo.  The
articles are excellent and the editorial includes the following:

"Following my mention of the Grand Prix Legends computer game, we have been
swamped by letters about it.  Now I know the depth of feeling, I feel it was
remiss of me not to mention it sooner. For those of you who don't know, GPL
is a game based around the 1967 world championship where you get to drive
all the cars on all the tracks visited that year save Le Mans which wouldn't
play ball so Rouen was included instead.

The bad news is you need a reasonably powerful PC to make it work properly
and without a steering wheel and pedals it is a waste of money.  properly
equipped however, it is the most thoroughly researched, brilliantly
conceived and thrilling PC game I have ever played.  Your set-up options are
limitless, your room for improvement without bounds.  Best of all, you can
piggy-back on Jim Clark's Lotus 49 and see how it really should be done."

Couldn't have said it better myself.  It's excellent to see GPL mentioned in
the mainstream motorsport press.  Well done MotorSport!

Cheers

Phil

I noticed it in the shop and simply 'had' to buy it. I haven't had
much of a chance to read it yet, but I certainly prefer the Eagle to
the Lotus.

Hehe they got something wrong though.

"The bad news is that you need a reasonably powerful PC to make it work
properly and without a steering wheel and pedals it is a waste of money".

Tell me if I am wrong but I'm sure that a few world records have been set
with the use of a joystick <G>

I just went to the shop, and they don't sell this magazine here.
Can anyone scan the articles perhaps?

I think you're right but I also think they mean that for us meer mortals a
wheel is essential.  There are those who have been racing for years with
joysticks who can go quicker.  I started playing GPL with a Gravis
Xterminator but found it way too difficult.  Now that I have an LWFF I
wouldn't dream of playing GPL without a wheel.
