I've always wondered:

Do the console versions have problems? If so, how do they fix them?

That makes sense. Thanks!

Two patches that addresses the various problems people have with the game.

The console problems are usually worked out before release. There is only
*one* hardware configuration for the game developers to deal with. With
PC's, they have thousands of combinations of hardware setups to deal with
(just consider the number of different video cards, each with it's own set
of drivers). This is why almost every PC game has bugs, but not everyone
will see the bug(s).

Yeah, but the patch also addresses game bugs inherint with the logic of the
game rules/programming. This and the hardware bugs/incompatibilities that
you are implying (which the this patch also fixes) are totally unrelated to
each other, with possible exceptions if there is any.

You can't tell me a PSX game has no bugs.
And I regard a small, non showstopping bug still a bug.

They certainly do have bugs, and a lot of them.

Jeff was right though, in that a game on a single console is much
easier to develop than it is for the PC. However, I doubt there has
ever been a single console game, on any system, without at least some
bugs.

Unfortunately, bugs in games on consoles such as the Playstation just
have to be left alone, in the hopes that they're not too serious.

There were enough bugs (I assume) in Sonic 2 for them to release a second
version.

Thanks. I have the patches, but the movies still aren't working right.
They are running VERY slow (about 5 FPS) and are way too dark, I can't
see anything. If I run the mpgs staright from the CD in the Windows
media player they work fine.

Is this because it's trying to run the movies on my Voodoo2 card? Is
there a solution to this problem, or will I have to exit the game and
try and figure out which FMV to run every time there's a movie?

If Driver has a software mode you can try running in that to see if the
Voodoo2 is the problem.

Good idea, but it made no difference. But I do think it's related to
the 3D card. I went to the GT Interactive forum, and there's a whole
bunch of people with the exact same problem, and all of them have
Voodoo2s. Hard to believe they missed testing such a popular card.
Hopefully there will be another patch soon, as the game loses a lot of
atmosphere without the movies.

I have 2 voodoo2s SLI'd (12M creative).  Movies work fine for me.  So
it's maybe not fair to say that they didn't test the game on a voodoo2
system just because it doesn't work for you and a few other ("whole
bunch of") people.

I had problems when I tried that VoodooMovie program (it may be far
better now, but back then it was very crashable).  But re-installing
Microsoft Media player solved my problems.

A fair point. But there is obviously a problem with some V2
configurations.

I run it with Voodoo2 without SLI and have no troubles with the movies...
Am I missing something???
