Not much to tell...  At lease one bonehead driver ruined the race for some
people.  I love it - in an 80 lap race, people STILL try to win on the first
corner.  *If* I run another GP, it will be passworded and by invitation ONLY.
Grrr...
I started 14th, got hit on the grid - grrr, again.  There were so many crashes
that I was up to 7th within 5 laps.  Finished 2nd.  My concentration was
GONE(not that I could catch Carlo anyway), so I conceded.  The results are
posted on my GPL page: http://www.racesimcentral.net/~epickett/gpl.htm
The replay file will be posted tomorrow - same page.

Many thanks for hosting the race Eldred,

My first online effort for some time and first attempt at a full
length race. Great Fun!!

31 laps in and having a blast had to get the damn phone.. tried to get
into the pits so I could rejoin (is that allowed??) but hit the pit
lane entrance as I tried to grab the phone which I dropped on the
floor :O(

Apologies if I caused any problems for anyone.

Hope if the next one is passworded I will be allowed in.. otherwise
I'll be banging on the door all afternoon ;O)

Cheers

Peter

Good showing, Hoops!

Congratulations to Carlo and Eldred!

My race was a mix of good and bad. Good was that I've stayed
in the race longer than I've ever done in online full GP
races and that I didn't ruin race for others (I hope so).
Bad was that somebody tried to pass me underneath
in the first corner and failed. So I've ended up with few
missing wheels:> But at least at practice everybody was
nice and careful.

Next time I will use good advise and immediately pull off
the track for some 15-20 seconds.

There was only ONE car behind me on the grid, and he managed to hit me... :(
Either he just can't drive, or he did it on purpose.  Neither makes me want him
in the next race...

WHY did you answer the phone?  They would have called back...  Priorities,
man...<g>

Based on our duel, I think I can trust you...<g>

Maybe he was warping real bad. I've had cars disappear and then suddenly
re-appear in front of me. Seems to get worse the closer I get. I usually
drive off the racing line then and back off a bit.

For GP races that IS necessary Eldred. At the Ring GP race for
example, during practice someone took me out in a most stupid way.
Later in practice he took more people out (yes, during practice :)
Then he said things like 'whoa, this track is more like a
rollercoaster, how the hell do you guys remember all these corners?'
and then somehow I knew this guy wouldn't last the full GP distance.
Luckily he bailed out before the race started.
(ok, ok, I too crashed on the first lap, but that's not the point, ok?
:))

Silverstone was great though. I watched the replay a couple of times
and the start was amazingly good, 19 drivers and not a crash during
turn 1. Unfortunately you -never- see this during normal VROC pickup
races.

Big congrats to Carlo, it was only a month ago or so that he started
racing online. Did you guys drive the full 80 laps or was the race
over before that?

Anyway, if I'm allowed to join the next race (Eldred, you're my best
friend :) what track will it be? How about.. da-dum-da-dum..
the best track of all - Goodwood?

Probably. Had a Ring race a couple of days ago, and really weird,
before the flag fell someone warped and a megacrash happened before
the flag fell !!

Unfortunately it was a call I couldn't ignore... one of my daughters
initially answered the phone as I had asked them to do while I was
racing but the call was one I had been waiting a few days for.

Looking forward to it already :O)

Thank's for the complements on my victory.
Eldred i hope you keep on hosting this grand prix races, it is a chalange to
drive a full length grand prix.
I was lucky to win the race, i know you must stay on the track and keep the
motor running but the laptimes must improve to win  a race .
Till next time Eldred ( i hope)

Possibly.  But, I never moved(I was asleep at the flag).  Since the grid is
staggered, there's no reason for him to hit me unless he just couldn't keep the
car straight.  A straight launch off the grid would have seen him pass me on
the left.  Therefore, my original statement stands.

You don't have to worry about being excluded...<g>

About 50 laps, I think...

I think we'll stick with the original tracks.  Someone suggested that people
would know those tracks better.

I think that might have been me :)

Hey Eldred, can I come to your next GP too? I didn't crash anybody at the
Silverstone GP (well, except for the guy I T-boned when he pulled back onto
the track after spinning on the back straight). I might have even finished
if I hadn't grenaded my Ford at lap 25 or so (bad Int Short shifting habits
:)
