RT stutters just like IL-2 on occasion. How come you haven't mentioned it
yet?Hehe....

I really havent noticed it....and the kind of burps or pauses I get in
iL2 would be very noticable.

Adjust the steering controls...it will solve the problem.  You are
over-correcting because the default setting is some ridiculous,
joystick-oriented non-linear setup.  The cars are very easy to control if
the controller is setup properly.  This is no GPL.

I'd assumed it was a pig to control because it was set up for a wheel!

I use a (ff) joystick & pedals & thought the steering was just way to
linear for a joystick. Solved it with the patch, setting steering & brake
to 1.5.

Agreed it's no GPL, though. I'd like to try these cars on a (smooth)
tarmac circuit for a proper comparison.

Well, many people have commented on it so it's not just me. Game will be
playing fine and then all of a sudden it will start stuttering and frame
rate goes to shit.

I have found that this occassionally happens when watching replays but
never during the actual race. This is on my P3/1Ghz, GeForce3 Ti200, 256
megs RAM...

Finland is on tarmac. Feels better than Porsche Unleashed, but not by a lot.

I was thinking of something closer to Zandvoort? Plenty of curves to
balance the throttle on. I haven't found a stage on RT that'll offer more
than "point and squirt".
Some of the snow stages are okay, but it still feels like the
under/oversteer is forced, rather than being what the car would naturally
do.

Perhaps it will come with time. I've not yet re-done it all post-patch.

The retail versions DO NOT ship with the patch -- you MUST download
and install the patch yourself.  Otherwise, you are running the
unpatched version.

Regarding the understeer when letting off the gas, have you checked
out this thread:

http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4569

I HIGHLY recommend trying the tweaks to the input.ini file as
recommended by "Cooknn" in this thread (second post in the thread,
right after my initial post).  Rally Trophy took on a whole new life
for me once I got that part sorted out.

Hm.  In my front-wheel drive street car, a square left at 15-20mph on
tarmac will cause tire squeal.  Just as a test, I brought up the
speedo/tach popup in English unts and ran a really conservative time
trial at Russia 1.  Approaching that turn I was doing 90mph, I braked
and went through the turn without slowing below 20mph, and I didn't
cut the corner or kick the rear of the car out to get it turned faster
(I'm sure if I pushed it on a flying lap I could keep it above 30mph).
I'm not sure what you consider nearly stopped, but that sounds about
right to me, if not unrealistically fast, especially on loose gravel.

What sort of wheel/pedal combo are you using John?  I have a Microsoft
PP (no FF) and haven't experienced that phenomenon, thankfully.

It's amazing how many controller issues people are having.  I guess I
was lucky in that my wheel works fine with the patched version, but
browsing through the JoWood forum apparently that's been the exception
to the rule.  It's a shame because the handling of the cars really
reminds me of GPL, albeit with more weight/momentum and less
horsepower.

JB - Did you have to adjust the throttle and brake values?  I assumed that
those were specific to my setup as I wired my TSW2 pedals to my Momo wheel
and those values in the input.ini were the only way I could get split axis
to work...

I have yet to be split axis to work the way I want in this game.  Combined
is not problem everything works like a dream and no dreaded bug where you
get on the brakes and loose steering input. Split axis and well it feels
like even the lightest brush against the brake and the steering is useless.
I have messsed with brake values, but it did not seem to help.
