Yet Another Negative Gplrank Announcement!!

YESSS!!! I always wanted to say that! :)
I'm gonna clean my screen now because I didn't know champagne was so sticky!

When I submitted my first handicap (104) in august I never thought I would
be able to get past handicap 50, 4 months later I'm negative and I've
improved my ability with huge steps in such a short time.

Nobody probably cares but I feel like I conquered the world :)))))
Damn I love gpl! bring on the next challenge! a leaugue maybe?
I think I'll still improve my rank but I wont be focussed on it so much
anymore

Tim -- Very well done, mate. How long have you had GPL, just out of
interest?

CONGRATS!

Now see if you can go Negative on Rally Trophy Rank www.rtrank.com The
benchmark times were run by pro rally driver Simon de Banke.  They're damn
fast and it won't be easy, but then again neither was going Negative on
GPLRank was it <g>

Congratulations Tim. I reckon you're right, I got my handicap negative
(just) then went off for something else to aim at...but somehow the Monsters
of GPL wasn't quite the same.

Trust me, join a league. It directs your obsession onto a different channel.
Now you will obsessively practice the upcoming track every day for the week
or two before the event, to the exception of all else. You will tweak your
setup endlessly, watching your league mates get farther ahead or farther
behind in their PB's.

Then after the league race you will completely forget about that track and
start on the next one.

Oh, and if your league races on the original tracks, you'll probably find
your GPL Rank improving as a side effect. When I started in my current
league I was -6 something. Now I'm approaching -10, and have broken my PB at
every track we have raced so far.

And, a league will force you to learn tracks other than the original 11,
possibly even the ovals.

Really? I happen to know SdB as he's running scoobynet, the forum for Subaru
owners. Great to hear that he's the benchmark :)
I must first upgrade my pc to play RT, but I've played it at a friends place
and I love it!

Since the very beginning, so more than 3 years. I didn't play it very much
before I got internet, and that's about 2 years I guess that I've been
***ed to it. :)

Congratulations Tim, great stuff :)

I wonder if like me, you'll stop hot-lapping now you're negative?  My
handicap has only improved 2 seconds since I went negative (now -2.2) six
months ago.

btw you don't need to have a negative handicap to race in a league.  Also
racing in a league will seriously improve your driving and it's the best fun
ever if you find a fun, friendly league.
