GP2-Mouse & Sndcard Wont Work Together

by Billy Moor » Fri, 11 Jul 1997 04:00:00

I am having problems getting a mouse to work in GP2 if my Soundblaster
driver is installed.  I can boot without sound support and the mouse
(serial) works.  If I allow the SB drivers to load, the mouse will not
work.  Makes it difficult to set up the sound card.  Also makes it
difficult to navigate through menus.  I might also mention I have installed
"nocdrom" and I am using Pieter's 1997 carset.  Does anyone know where I
can get some DOS mouse drivers?  Maybe I can try several different ones.
Is "nocdrom" causing problems?  I could run without it, but I prefer not to
have to get out the cd every time I want to play.  Thanks.

I have exactly the same set-up with no problems. If you run GP2 from
a W95 icon, go to properties, program, advanced and enable the mouse
option, tho' I use the "use msdos mode as neccessary" mode for mine
and this still allows use of my serial mouse. Like you say - it does
sound as if you don't have a mouse driver set up in the mode you run
it. You should have a mouse driver disk with your mouse when you got
it. If not, go to the manufacturesrs web site for your mouse and
download their drivers or e-mail them for it.
