I think that is false.  One of the GPL developers (no I don't recall the
name) told me in vroc that, at the very least, the failure 'cause' (meaning
any of various reasons given as to what component failed) is random.  He did
not specifically state that failures *in general* are also random, but I
have to assume that is the case.

Dunno.  Prolly not...altho I do seem to remember some odd exits of the AIs
in multiplayer.  Might be controlled by the server.  My best guess would
have to be NOT, however.

If the original question related to the player's reliability, OTOH, the only
consistent issue is engine damage from overrevving (usually downshifts or
drafting, altho sometimes it seems like just spending too much time at the
redline), but I have suffered some inexplicable anomalies like flat tires
(definitely not modeled in the physics, so presumably a random-number
seed-induced ":failure").

Strange - a couple of guys in the Masters of GPL league were whining last year
that the Honda was the most fragile.  They laughed uproariously when I
suggested that it was the Lotus... :-(

Hmm...  I don't have that problem much with the Ferrari.  With me, it's the
BRAB...
 :-(

ime the Lotus is pretty reliable as long as you look after it. The Honda
seems to just give up sometimes.

I'd say the Honda was the car least likely to finish a race, in my hands at
any rate ;-)

Well, I guess I'll have to drive the Honda more.  I can't *stand* it now.  I've
done most of my recent racing in the Lotus or Ferrari, and haven't had any
reliability problems in either.
