Yep, it is a new one. Though, you better get if from
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
27Mb and it is different from the "old" one. You still race for 5 laps at
Monza and the traction cotrol and ABS are enabled but the driving model feels
totally new and so does the opponent AI. The sound is new, and there is also
more detail in the game, like dust of the wheels when in a sandtrap and
absolutelly stunning lens flare in the 3dfx version. Also, you drive the
Ferrari. Anyway, I can't wait to get the full version.

ps. I've been playing the demo for the last 4 days on my P133 with 3dfx and
the game absolutelly rocks in every respect. We could have soemthing here :)

I've been driving the Ubi F1 'pirated' demo for a couple months
now.  I noticed there is a new demo out now.  Op3Dfx has it- it says
it's still a "French" demo.  So has anyone downloaded this and what is
the difference from the previous one?  I noticed the file appears to be
about 7 MB larger, 35 MB instead of 27.
Is it worth downloading this 'official' demo?

Scott, I have both the orig. french pirate demo and the official english
demo (unfortunately the game is yet to be released here in Australia, this
week I'm told) the english demo is waaay better the the french, it has
absolutely no slowdown, it also has to levels (amatuer and expert) and the
control config can be changed, and graphics are slightly improved (lens
flare, etc..) it's 29.8meg though..

ps. a tip for those potential F1 stunt drivers, go flat out the worng way
around the track coming into the second chicane at monza (forget what it's
called) and turn hard left, and catch some serious air/flips/whatever..  ;)

John.

I've had the same demo for a while and downloaded the new official
English demo from   http://www.f1racingsim.com and can tell you that new
demo is  EXCELLENT.  Runs very smooth on P200 3DFX  and new special
effects are super. The new demo is configureable and can run 3DFX or D3D.
I've tried both with new 3DFX D3D drivers 2.14 and can tell you that new
drivers add very rich color to game .The 3DFX version is faster and has
more effects .
It's worth the download especially if you have to wait for game for long
time.
PS.  The controls are much improved and lap times faster...

The new demo is much better than "pirated" Avault copy which i had too.
I can tell you that it's worth the download .
If you have 3DFX card i would suggest downloading new D3D drivers 2.14
as they add very rich color to D3D version.
Glide is faster and more effects but it's worth checking out D3D version.
Cheers

According to that web page, the file has been pulled.  Do you know anywhere
else I can get this?  It would be nice if someone else could put it up for
download.  I think Ubisoft made them take it down because they had some deal
with a magazine (cdrom) to give the file only to them, which is stupid,
since it still just a demo.
