F1RS OFFICIAL ENGLISH DEMO IS HERE...........

by m.i.. » Wed, 10 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I downloaded the demo from here http://www.racesimcentral.net/ and can tell
you that it's excellent .  Runs D3D and 3DFX Glide .
For Voodoo owners i would suggest downloading new D3D 2.14   drivers as
they add
very rich color to game.
cheers

I think you can gain those rich colors without downloading that new
D3D driver...since the game runs on glide...

As for the graphics, Ubisoft is EXCELLENT in that field.  If you've
seen POD and Subculture, you know what to expect.  Ubisoft uses vivid
colors, but applies various shadings at the same time to prevent the
graphics from looking cartoonish.  The anti-3DFX gamers claim that
3DFX can only do washed-out colors.  Ubisoft proves them wrong
everytime they release a new game.

Hi !!
I've downloaded the DEMO but all that I got is a
'GCD init error' after the two initial Screens.. Happens
both with the d3d version and the Vodoo Version. I guess
I have all the newest drivers .. my System is a P133/48MB and
a Monster 3DFX card .. pretty normal I guess .. the other D3D and
3DFX games work fine ..
What is 'GCD ' ?? Could someone shed some light on this ?? I think
other people might have the same problem !!

              Thanks
                           Joerg

That error usually means your glide2.dll.. is out of date.. Time to update to the 2.43 drivers..

take care

Nope .. I checked that several times .. I definatly have 2.43 ..
also the D3D version  gives exactly the same error .. and this one
should not rely on the glid2x.dll ..

 Any more suggestions anyone ??

                     Thanxs,

It's not a glide problem, if had this problem until I increased my
Windows Swap file to 45Mb and free disk space on C: to more
than 50Mb. That seemed to do the trick. Jeez that's what I call
a resource hungry program !!

Hope this help,

Mark Elliott
