TSW pedals as flight sim rudders?

TSW pedals as flight sim rudders?

by Dave Ma » Sun, 15 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I'm considering complimenting my racing sim hobby/***ion with
flight sims.  I've always really liked the feel of the TSW pedals (I
have the padded rollers, not the newer Momo pedals, and use them
mostly in dual axis mode), and wanted to know if anyone's ever been
able to use them as flight rudders.

I'm assuming you'd need some kind of converter cable to go from the
pedal unit's male connector to some type of 15-pin joystick connector,
but I haven't looked around to see if something like this exists.  I'm
guessing that flight sim rudders typically plug into a second joystick
port on a dedicated gamecard (like my CH Gamecard Automatic, which BTW
I'm likely to replace with a PDPI L4 card very shortly).

I'm probably also going to use the Suncom SFS Throttle and Talon
joystick, or maybe the SFS and the Saitek Cyborg joystick (I have
smallish hands, and the Cyborg fits me pretty well).

Bascially, I'm looking to save a few bucks on another set of pedals
like the CH rudder pedals and to avoid having to move around pedal
units when switching from racing sim to flight sim.  I have the TSW
pedal unit attached to a raised platform under my table, to bring them
up to a more comfortable level relative to my seat, and would like to
avoid having to dismount them.

So, am I dreaming or what?  :^)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

TSW pedals as flight sim rudders?

Hi,

Take a look at this site:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

The guy knows his stuff and it works.  I use the pedals that came with my
T2 as rudder pedals with my joystick and it works fine.  I built a Y
adapter for the game port that maps the pedals to a separate axis, then
chose the appropriate controller in control panel.  If you're handy with a
soldering iron you can basically map any axis of any controller you have
to any axis you want on the game port.  LOL.
