I hope we can crash into those tyre walls and wipe them clear of the

Does this mean that annoying chicane in Montreal, too??

The PC Gamer Review stated :-

"don't expect any temporary track changes implemented"

: Sorry to say but Microprose have repeatedly stated that all chicanes
: will be exactly as they were for the '94 season.

Never mind what MPS says, PC Gamer quotes Sir Geoffrey thusly:

"I won't be implementing temporary changes during the 1994 season.
The game will be a snapshot for the end of 1994.  It's the most
 up-to-date that we can be."

from which I infer that they are licenced only for the 1994 tracks,
but they can and will use the 1995 configuration for each of them.

Actually this could be a good reason for not buying the game :-(
I don't enjoy driving on stop-and-go tracks. Even if they give me
stunning graphics and smart AIs, I'd rather drive Monza and Spa in
F1GP. That's why I keep asking for a track editor...

And a 3rd gear 2nd Lesmo curve at Monza. Montreal with another
chicane is an horrible track. The chicane before the start was slowed
down to 2nd gear as well (no more 250+ kph, even if that was quite
 unrealistic.)

BUT it's not how it is in real life. If I wanted to play a shitty,
uunrealistic game I'd play something else and not a simulator. The
chicanes in F1GP don't have walls and the main incentive to slow downn is
to lap at reasonable speeds.

Geoff Crammond is reported to have said that the tracks are as they were
at the end of 1994, i.e. WITHOUT TEMPORARY CHICANES (Hooray!).

For sure, and we know why there are walls and not proper curbs don't we...?
Because the 'physics' in ICR/2 won't allow any "airborne excursions"... <g>

Even in F1GP we could 'jump' thru the air... (Whoever did that 'car-jump'
at Hockenheim is a race hero, Gizmo.) None of that with Papyrus - yet (!).
I like to use the curbs a lot when racing 'normally' in F1GP anyway, it was
much missed in ICR2. But it was strange hearing that Baron Lazier thought
that that was the reason. I thought that the way the 'Papyrus game engine'
handled (or didn't handle) jumping or tyres lifting was common knowledge
by now. Sorry if I had to mention it again.

Well, now. I've just read the GP2 review in PC Gamer... heh, Well, well.
(Or, well, well, well, well, well, well... as a certain Irish IndyCar
commentator would say.) <g>

BTW, your web pages are getting better all the time. Good work, Dave.
When GP2 comes out, I think you deserve a holiday! <g>

Cheers,
Clive

included..

As one of the few have played GP II I can confirm there are no chicanes as 1994
featured. Eau Rouge is TONS better than the original, i.e. not easily flat out
and plays the way you would expect having seen in car shots. I played the sim
at the AutoSport International Show for about 45 mins, and believe me this game
really is the dogs testes. I played Monaco, Silverstone, Belgium, Estoril,
Suzuka and Adelaide. If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer. Noone
is more p**sed off with Microprose thanmyself at being kept in the dark, but
believe me this game is worth it.

>>So, look forward to tyre walls in Barcelona and a sappy Eau Rouge.

Actually I think the word 'temporary' is the key here, If you call
resurfacing and new kerbing 'temporary'! hence, Spa isn't temporary,
yet three or four tyres at Barcelona is.

Therefore Brazil, Tanaka and Imola are unchanged.
Silverstone, Canada, Hockenheim, Spa and Estoril are 'proper' changes
- not temporary, Barcelona should remain the same as '93 - hopefully.

I imagine that there will be various tracks changed throughout GP2 -
maybe not the ones I have mentioned, but I have noticed a few people
talking about the annoying new chicane before Bridge at Silverstone,

If anybody can confirm these changes please tell all....

I haven.t seen the game - only PCGamer's review - ***y good

Cheers

-Steve

.......Jed wants to know whether there are any changes to crashing on
GP2 - or whether you just nudge and flail around - personally I prefer
a quick nudge under braking a - la - Damon (Monza - Schuey's
fault!!!!!).

True, F1GP doesn't have walls at some chicanes.  But, try cutting over the
chicane at Monaco on the back side of the track (whichever set of turns it
is), and you'll find there is an imaginery wall that you can't get through.
