Nas2demo/Cyrix cpu incompatible?

by Patrick L. Dots » Wed, 25 Sep 1996 04:00:00

I downloaded the demo last night and messed with it this morning and
on my lunch hour.  So far I haven't been able to run a single lap!

The demo starts up fine and I can move through the menu's, but as soon
as I click on the "drive" button, the program crashes and dumps me out
to the dos prompt.  I also tried the "replay" button once and the
program locked up completely.

Nascar1, ICR2, and GP2 all run fine.  I've tried the same configuration
that I use for those games with Nascar2 without success.  I've also
tried it with and without univbe installed.

The readme.txt file says that a pentium is required.  Is some pentium
optimization being used that makes it incompatible with cyrix?  Maybe
the program checks to see if a pentium cpu is present...  BTW, when
the crash occurs, I'm placed in the /nascar2/rol directory.

Other info:
Cyrix p150+ cpu
16 MB ram
Soundblaster Clone sound card
OEM ET4000 video card w/1 meg
tyan tomcat 1 motherboard

Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that I'm using win95.  I have been re-booting to
dos mode though.  Still no luck!
